Suicidal tendencies.
    #13089793 -

Are there situations where it is acceptable to take ones own life ? Is it a cowardly option, or does it take immense bravery/stupidity ? Is it the ultimate in taking control of ones own destiny ?

It depends on what you believe, man, I think it might actually be alright in some situations. Like that assisted-suicide deal.

It can be any of these things.  It's always acceptable as an option imo. It's up to the individual to decide for themselves.

It's a permanent decision so I would think hard on it.

A lot of suicides are the result of mental illness. If you can present a valid case for your suicide, I will allow it.

Sorry, think you misunderstand my motives for posting this. I don't wish to end it all, the more time I have here, the better IMHO, but I could get hit by a bus tomorrow or struck down by a stroke. I value my life very highly and would act accordingly if it was threatened. Just to illustrate that not everyone is motivated by "death angst", rather than fearing death, maybe acceptance and a healthy anticipation would serve us better.

Never thought for a moment you were wishing that.

Read Ernest Becker's book Denial of Death and then get back to us on how "not everyone is motivated by death anxiety".

The worst that death can throw at me is a arduous lead up and then total non-existence. If our death is what motivates us to ask important, seemingly morbid questions, then it is a great motivator, and if it is at the point of death we expect to find answers then we may be surprised, nay shocked to find an absence of anything, then again we would be incapable of either.
