p.s. you know what sucks? A tree surgeon is taking that tree away later this week.:thumbdown:



ask the tree surgeon if you can have the friggin tree?!! chop it up in 3-4 foot logs and have a gym set up similiar to how shiitake growers do it in your yard. :thumbup: thats what i'd do . :shrug:

I thought about that, lol. I don't own the property, or I'd get a chainsaw and slice off that section. There are lots of dead or dying maples around where I live, so i'll keep my eyes peeled. :crazy2:

he is probably going to burn it or be pained to get rid of it. i would ask.say theres an edible mushroom species growing on that tree and you want to see if you can keep the species alive with that log? worse that can happen is he says no . :shrug:

yeah.. I've actually met the guy before. He seems pretty mellow. I think most tree surgeons are. It's on my landlord's property. There are plenty of woods near by, so I may ask him to leave some large chunks and i'll toss em in the woods.
  Any tree surgeon that has been around for a while probably knows all about tree species. I'll probably ask him in a clever way so that I can tell if he's cool about it. I don't need him telling my landlord his tenant wanted to save the tree to grow for mushrooms. :wink:
  Question: Do Big Gyms tend to grow back on the same log/same area?

some gyms. can be weak, some can knock you.. looks like gym to me.. :laugh:
