Re-incarnation debunked by simple math.
    #12654780 -

Re-incarnation is a mute subject because simply put; the growth rate of the earth, far exceeds the death rate.

What does this have to do with re-incarnation?

Well if re-incarnation is to be taking place, then the number of babies(vehicles for the soul of a past life) must be relatively close to the amount that is dying. Presently, that is simply not the case, which is why 20 000 some odd children die every day to starvation.

And really to believe in re-incarnation, we would have to believe that the little children starving are facing a punishment for mis action, when obviously if we look at the numbers this simply cannot be the case.

Your premise is that earth is a closed system and you will be reincarnated as soon you had died.
May I put both premises into question ?

How is earth not a closed system?

How IS earth a closed system?  It depends upon countless cosmic factors for all of the apparently constant characteristics that we observe in it.

any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Humans only live on earth

In religious metaphysics that posit reincarnation, reincarnation is never a human-only process.  It usually involves animals, humans, and beings on other, subtler planes than the physical.  In these metaphysics the "system" is indeed quite open and non-linear.

And what reason do they have to believe that non-humans are reincarnated as humans? Or for that matter what reason do they have to believe that anything is reincarnated in the first place?

IMO as far as reincarnation in Indian culture, I think it is a farce to keep people on the lower end the caste system to submit willingly.

I wasn't defending reincarnation, just pointing out that your argument about human reincarnation being a closed system doesn't take into account how the process is actually viewed by those who espouse it.

I agree that it seems highly unlikely that some aspect of a frog's consciousness can later be reborn into a human's, or a human's into a ghost's.

Re incarnation is just another stage in the human experience. The biological life is comprised of miniscule actions involved in the transfer of energy which helps the macroscopic human with day to day activity. When the human passes away, the transfer of energy is not halted, conciousness itself can be stated as an organized transfer of energy to give the illusion of a seperate world. When the human being dies, the transfer of his or her energy is paired with that or the Gaia, and the energy which makes up him, joins the earth's energy transfer mind.

I don't believe in reincarnation, but if I did, you're not taking into account that they believe you can be reincarnated as another animal or insect for that matter.

Besides, wasn't it Einstein who said something to the effect of no new energy could possibly be introduced into the universe? In other words, the same raw materials are just being recycled over and over.

How does the fact that the universe is expanding lead to more souls?

Because according to you, the number of souls are merely a product of the volume of the universe. There is no reason to believe that.
