Please point out where the OP proposed a mechanism for how the universe started. The title was false advertising. If someone fails to take their own thread seriously...

Did you really think, from reading the title, that you were going to get a sound argument that concretely explained the origination of the universe? And you are 'concerned' that you didn't get such?

What's wrong with throwing out a random idea, even if there is no evidence for it? If people were interested in having a conversation, the concept of causality could be a fun one to discuss

As far as I know, in the history of mankind there hasn't been one idea about the creation of the universe that is concrete. Even with all the intricate math describing the big bang, there is absolutely know explanation about the origination. Even with the detailed descriptions in religious texts, there is no explanation for how the 'first mover' ever got there.

Quite so, in fact isn't that what this section is for? Sharing our experiences/thoughts/ideas with others with common interests and be open minded to the point where, while we very well will likely stick to our own beliefs (For as much as people will argue it is very hard as well as unsettling to instantly change your view of REALITY) we can still be polite and courteous enough to let other people put in THEIR 2 cents as long as they abide by forum rules and discuss why they think it and have a civilized debate about the topic as to provide one another's reasons for or against, no matter the ratio of yays to nays...instead of distracting ourselves from the topic, which is indeed an interesting one, and point and laugh at the guy for grammatical typos. And THAT is my 2 cents, hell I already chipped in my 2 cents and yet here we all still bickering. Get over it.

Um I believe last I looked the category listed Philosophy  :waits:...I've taken a 200 level Philosophy course at my private college, you should hear all the crazy theories from legitimate degree-earned philosophers! The way you want it is basically to step outside a box...just to step into a bigger one!

That's on the assumption that we are dismissing it from embracing it as a possibility of ACTUAL reality, not including dismissing it from an actual conversational topic (Which IS what a forum is for, conversational topic). There may be no proof but the guy can at least get his kicks in and explain why he/she thinks that, who knows, maybe there are people that would gain from it and open their minds a bit more. Maybe not embrace the idea even but perhaps spark a new one of their own. Inspiration in a way. And once everyone has been satisfied with the topic, whether a long/short discussion, the thread can die...
