If you are in the UK, the Tescos' shops sell their own brand of jam in identical shaped and sized jars, at around half the price if I remember right. The Tesco jam jars should be right next to the Bonne Maman jars. [\quote]
In Ireland those are about 3 euro each, cheaper then buying them online and having them shipped. Unfortunatly I dont eat jam and couldn't waste food and throw the jam out.

18ltr though....way too small for my needs.
80ltr's are spot on for mono's and fruiting chambers.

I always buy my perlite and vermiculite from Homebase. It's often in the gardening part (usually the outdoors section).
When I'm doing BRF cakes, I buy Sainsbury's organic brown rice and grind it up with a coffee grinder.
I order my coir bricks online from http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/ - only a couple of days' delivery, and very cheap. The quality of the coir is really very good.
I have seen them jars and have been looking for coco coir supplier. was thinking eBay but your site is 30p cheaper.
Question:
What you do to your lids on those jam jars? How much spawn you mix with each brick of coir? Add Coffee?
If so people use coffee grounds? Any particular make? Or Liquid Coffee? (nescafe?)

I get a nail and hammer 4 inoculation points into each lid - I wouldn't recommend this unless you're very good with sterility, as the more inoculation points a lid has, the more likely the jar could get contaminated.
The way I grow mushrooms is with coir/BRF or coir/WBS at a 3:1 (coir:substrate) rate into aluminum baking trays, so I only take off an amount of coir roughly half the size of a can of cola to fill four medium baking trays. I know that's not very specific, but I don't do large monotubs, just four or so baking trays that go into one shotgun terrarium. One brick lasts pretty much a few months for me. I don't add coffee and I don't case. To be honest, my tek is simplistic compared to most on here; just straight up mix BRF or WBS substrate with coir, dump it in a tray and harvest substantial amounts of mushrooms from them.
I tried casing a few times, and I'd say I apply them fairly well... but I just don't think there's actually any significant increase in yields. I searched this up and I see plenty of others saying the same.

Hi guys,
Found a really good supplier for mycology equipment in the UK!
They are called Applied Microscience Ltd and they are based in Newcastle.
They have pretty much everything you need if you are just starting your mycology experiments or an advanced cultivator.
Their communication and shipping is very quick and they are happy to give advice!
They don't sell cubensis spore syringes, only edibles.........Om nom nom nom

i see yoursuper cheapskates and raise you two tight arsed MOFOs'

many florists have their fresh flowers delivered in these and will often give them away, or for a small donation to a charity,25p each in one shop.
does away with the need for perlite, which may be hard to find and expensive for some in the uk.produce ~2oz dry per bucket

Nice going deucedbi9, like the bucket idea.
Data Byte Duce - Microscience is good but very over priced for the stuff, i use it though for myco bags as i want to guarantee some shrooms. He is very quick at delivering the goods.
Also that link has been mentioned in the thread before.
For those that have the Westfalia dehydrator (HERE):
I bought this and have to say looks like a hairdryer in a round box and is very noisy.
How long does it take to dry out mushrooms? Is the heat on it ok or shall i disable it?

yeah i thought I would buy it as want to dry fruit and make some jerky so will see more than shrooms.
Once seeing it a PC fan in a box is the same at the end of the day.
Anyone buy shrooms from Camden? If so can your remember the price and weight you got for that?

My first shrooms were bought in Camden, in 'The Amsterdam of London' basement, back in the legal days. I got my first ever spores from there too 30 quid it cost us.
Normally it was £20-30 for 30 g punnet of cubes. Truffles were £30 for 15 g and Pans costed £30 for 10 or 15 g.
An absolute rip off when you think what you can get for £30 in terms of supplies.

I thought it was around £20 but 30g is a lot for 1 person, thought a normal trip is around 20-25g?
I used just go halves on 1 lot and that had a good effect!

Depends I do 30-35 g in tea.
I swear they used to be weak, we used to eat 50g and not get bombd like youd expect.
While 20-30 g home grown is a happy trip.

Hello fellows
It really is difficult to find so many of the supplies that our American friends take for granted.
Anyone know a supplier of (reasonably-sized = much less than 25kg) blood meal, by itself? Without bones or other stuff?
