Do you mean jars with pre-sterilized substrate ready to inoculate? Or just empty jars?

Pre-sterilized substrate ready to inoculate please.
I would happily do it myself, but unfortunately my current living conditions don't make this a viable option.
Also, my FC is a dome with a perlite tray. The dome has a BBQ style vent on the top for air. Under the dome and tray there is a glass sheet with a reptile heat mat attached to it. The heat mat is attached to an electric thermostat.
Would it be a good idea to drill some small holes in the dome for ventilation? The dome is being kept in a cleaned section of a wardrobe. I can leave the door of it open for some light if the cakes need it, or I can wire up some LED's if all it needs is blue light?
Here is a pic

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread :-P, but I did include links for products available in the UK!

hey mate
to be honest, for a fruiting chamber just get a large rubbermaid container (like a big plastic box that you would use for storage) and buy a bag of perlite. put the perlite in the fruiting chamber and put cakes on top (on a piece of aluminium foil or something). It'll cost you like £10 and it will be larger than the thing you're looking at/have bought.
leave the wardrobe door open for light. Shrooms dont need loads but they need a bit. even if you just shine a desk light into the wardrobe for 30 minutes a day it should be fine. dont bother spending money on any lighting though, its a waste of money.
also you really dont need the heating mat. Shrooms when they're fruiting need a slightly COLDER temperature than they did when you incubate the jars (letting the mycelium colonize). You could use the heating mat for incubating the jars if you want, but dont bother using it when they're fruiting.
drilling holes is probably a good idea. fan the FC with a rolled up magazine every day as well if you want to ensure really good FAE (fresh air exchange)
as for pre-sterilized substrate im not sure.
good luck

Thanks for the answers guys!
I would have used a big plastic box, but I only have the space you see in the picture to run my project.
Ill leave the door open for a bit and I have a tap light that I will put some batteries in and hit that for a little while each day as far as light goes.
So holes are a good idea then right? I can use my dremel and sort that out tomorrow.
Hope my spores get here tomorrow and I can carry out the inoculation. I planned to use the heat mat (with thermostat) to keep the cakes at between 79-82F and to keep the grow space warm as it is usually pretty damn chilly in Scotland :-)

oh i see, if that's all the room you have then the thing you've bought is a good idea. hopefully someone else will post about holes in the FC, ive never done it myself so i really can't advise you.
since you're in scotland definately use the heating mat for incubation lol

If you have time to wait for your shrooms then i would look into sclerotia producing strains...that way you can just fill that small space with jars and leave them for a few months...then come back and harvest.

Its possible....but I doubt you will, being your first grow and having minimal proper kit.
Patience is the one key to this hobby....it gets a million times easier once youve had your first lot of shrooms and know what to expect.
and be very very careful using that heatmat, it could dry your jars out in no time and the job will be fucked.

thanks for the warning. plan to have the heat mat along the side or back of my area to heep the ambient temp up. It is hooket up to a thermostat, so it shouldnt get to serious.
Anyone else got advice on adding holes to the dome?

Yeah you could cut holes and stuff with synthetic pillow stuffing not cotton balls.

Cheers, but would it actually help anything you think? Or would it just drop my RH when the cakes are in?

If you are in the UK, the Tescos' shops sell their own brand of jam in identical shaped and sized jars, at around half the price if I remember right. The Tesco jam jars should be right next to the Bonne Maman jars.
I always buy my perlite and vermiculite from Homebase. It's often in the gardening part (usually the outdoors section).
When I'm doing BRF cakes, I buy Sainsbury's organic brown rice and grind it up with a coffee grinder.
I order my coir bricks online from http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/ - only a couple of days' delivery, and very cheap. The quality of the coir is really very good.
