No its not.  White people can and are oppressed by non-whites.  It goes both ways.  White people do not have a monopoly on oppression, despite what schools teach you.

has nothing to do with what school teaches me, if anything schools leave out the most important details.

Racism is racism, regardless of the excuse.

Well, on this point we agree, though I don't see how the term implies that racism is acceptable. It isn't. Racism, and any kind of blanket prejudgment, are stupid, ignorant reaction in all cases.

since we're being so politically correct, whites are not unnecessarily
Caucasian while some Caucasians are white and if you look at the history
of the region you can find info of the Armenian genocide, certainly a
situation in which the caucasians were being slaughtered by another ethnic
group

the fact that this topic enrages some of you here so much while injustices perpetrated by the police, the free market and corporations is telling.

I've been a victim of reverse racism, but you've never seen me whining about it. Rather, I usually complain about preferential treatment being given to idiots.

I can't remember ever reading anything by you complaining about Affirmative Action.  Maybe you could find it for us or at least give us a refresher on your thoughts regarding it.

we cant be bouncing around with terminology like this, we see an example
of a minority oppressing a majority but that cant be right because in
your opinion the majority needs to be caucasian, yet they cant be
caucasian because the caucasians arent white in your opinion

Re-read what I wrote I said
Quote:

Meaning that I accept it as less of a hindrance to me than racism or a history of, is to others.

We do not have the same parallels in Canada though and since nepotism is also common in some workplaces (hiring someone who is family or family of another employee) this has become less common. Particularly since the majority of employers already have these quotas met and nepotism becomes the only real barrier.

This is nothing to do with affirmative action though. This is police stations punishing white cops who do things remotely black with their hair, like dreads and cornrows. As I said it's double reverse racism. Reverse racism done for the reason of maintaining racial division. One may even call it pro-segregationist policy on a psychological level.

Re: Reverse Racism [Re: zappaisgod]

I think the problem here is that when talking about racism "Majority" does not mean the numerically superior group.

Majority, at least in my understanding, means the group with the most access to money, social networks, organization, etc.  In other words power.  In South Africa the Whites, even though they were a numeric minority, sill held control of the government, most businesses, and access to wealth.  Thus, they were the Majority.

And assuming that oppression is an element of racism (which I would contest) I don't see how putting someone on desk duty is oppression.

For that matter, I am not entirely sure how Affirmative action or even a quota system is oppression.

It doesn't significantly protect idiots more on average than standard hiring practices.

edit: Smackshadow, good point. The cases of the dreaded officers may have been a different case (the article fails to thoroughly examine that), but the fact of the mater is that desk duty was not a big deal and allowed the employee to contest the issue while still working.

Also, I find it interesting that some people on here think the term Racism is thrown out all to readily when it comes to the president and politics, but apparently have no problem with reverse racism being used in a likewise fashion.

corporations are legally people. However I suppose I could have been more clear, as it is in the name of the free-markets or of profit.

Did you read that in my typing?

Of course a system can be unjust.  However, without individuals willing to put this latent characteristic into action, the characteristics of the system are meaningless.

Actually, I think ScavengerType is somewhat correct.  It's very rare, for example, that anyone in a corporation has a goal of ruining the environment.  But in keeping costs down, that is exactly what many corporations do (not intentionally).  Same thing with the free market.  No one individual probably has any desire to put any kid in a sweatshop.  But when the freemarket goes unregulated, businesses buy from wherever costs are lowest.  No bad individual intentions, but bad outcomes as a result of the systems.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.
