My cakes are turning green.  I keep them at the proper temp and humidity.  One has 3 shrooms coming out of the top...the rest have nothing.  Is the green normal?  When can I soak and try again the ones that haven't produced?

Are you sure they are green and not blue? How long have they been in your FC? Did you dunk and roll them?

green is not normal. its mold ( trich). throw them out and start over.

if you haven't handled them its not bruising. probably mold. its a sad day when you throw out a cake, but its not worth spreading the mold to the other cakes

I have dunked and rolled cakes at anystage to try to get them to pin.  Have no clue if this is proper but it seems to work.  The green cakes have to go.

its a race .u can use salt for trich to slow it down .can u get the fruits b4 the mold takes over?

Now that I have read what everyone has said.....I think my cakes are a bluish green....not just green.  This morning I have 2 more cakes that have sprouted little shrooms.  As this is the first time I have ever tried this I am the novice of novices.  If they truely are green will it really look like mold...all fuzzy etc?  If I can figure out how I will post pics.  Thanks for all the responses!  Hopefully I will be shrooming before long! :laugh::mushroom2:

IME trich(mold) doesnt get fuzzy.  If it is bluish/green and it is a result of psilocybe bruising your fine.  Congrats on the new pinset you should be munching shrooms in no  time

Yes the green mold will look fuzzy, if its only brusing, the color will be on the cake itself.

If its green mold don't even try to save the cake or to make it fruit before the mold take over. Just burry it 6 feet under as fastest as possible.

One way to be sure is pour some water on the cake if the colour goes away its contaim.  If it stays its bruising.
