are baeocystis usually first?
    #11080595 -

I noticed that Psilocybe baeocystis has been the most commonly found active in the PNW so far and was wondering if that was normal? I also saw reports about cyanescens and liberty caps but not as many as the baeocystis.

Many books report Baeos as widespread, common and prolific in the PNW however i have seen a relatively low number found in comparison to other Woodlovers in the PNW. I think this could  be in part due to Cyanescens being on the forefront of many hunters minds. This  year seems especially good so far tho.

I remember looking at last years "official" thread and all the baeos were toward the beginning of the thread, not first though.

maybe they can't handle the cold as well as cyans

just a guess

Maybe. Stamets has found Baeos as early as June. which is unheard of for Most PNW psilocybes but shows Baeos can tolerate higher temps suggesting a possible higher fruiting temp range. But its all just an idea.

In my experience I have usually found beaos latter then most other Pnw actives. Usually finding stuntzii then cyans before the beaos start but it seems to really vary from season to season.
