Tons of replies and I am too busy drinking Arrogant Bastard and watching Laserblast (MST3K) with my dad.

But, for the record...

I used Napster for about 3 months. In the GOOD days.

I then deleted most of it because it was shit. I have IRL friends who have HUGE collections of CDs. I had a laptop that ripped 90+ gigs into high quality MP3s.

Fuck thieves.

It's a fucked up thing, and people who condone taking something that is not theirs, FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN SURVIVAL, needs to really examine themselves.

Grow the fuck up, and/or man up. You call me a pussy for not stealing.... The irony is so thick you could measure my cock with it.

Back to an incredible beer and a funny ass movie.

For some reason I think paying money to buy something from a guy that died a long time ago is kind of stupid, and 99% of the music I download was released in the 1960's.

If you like the music enough, you'll buy the cd's eventually.

And I download gigs of music/movies every day, I'm a dirty thief, and I wipe my ass with the money I save.

I never even uploaded them FWIW. I also most likely owned them at one time or another... I grew up in the CD age and probably spent $10,000 on those fucking things.

At least I earned my prize. :lol:

People stealing is stealing no matter if its food or not. I have been starving for 5+ months now but I dont steal food from anywhere. I get 5 cents a can and buy just enough food to survive. Never once has stealing come across my mind.

I think there should be a line drawn here. For one thing, if I download music I AM NOT stealing from the artist, I am stealing from the Record Label. A label that exploits and overcharges for music. Secondly MOST bands put all of their albums on their myspace nowadays anyway. People aren't stupid and they realize that selling CD's is a thing of the past. What do I do though? I always buy merch and I always try to see a band when they come to play. I love music, I love it way too much to support by habit. I make very little money and the money I do get goes to things I need, food gas etc. Music helps me out in life, its the greatest medicine I have. Do I get most of it illegally? Sure, but would it be better for me not to have it and be left without it? I think not. Stealing a physical item is different than stealing kilobytes...

I already owned them... the technology wasn't around to back them up and they were lost/stolen/scratched/destroyed. I paid for my right to listen.

Don't get the wrong impression from 90 gigs... When you rip high quality, it adds up! Back in 1993, I had hundreds of discs!

I figured Napster was the way to get THE COLLECTION I PAID FOR BACK with new and exciting technology... It was OK, but most of the rips were garbage. So I purchased a laptop and ripped them myself.

If you want to debate if that is stealing, I want to know what you think of the scumbags who steal drugs from sleeping friends? And how those compare....

we are talking about stealing from stores, not from people.
i think it's wrong to steal from people and would never do it, even if it would cost my life. stores however like wal=mart is a different matter, if i was hungry or really poor. i would steal what i need from there.
and stealing music is wrong. artists work hard and it's getting harder and harder to make a living out of music.
things continue to be more expensive and people tend to be buying way less.

Some people have an isane hatred for thieves. I don't get it. Stealing is pathetic in most instants, but the reactions in this thread seem a bit over the top.  :shrug:
