OK guys, it's been almsot a whole page of dark-matter talk, let's stay on topic! :smirk:

the theories is not false. as it is just a theory not fact. Just like if you came up with a theory on how it was created, it would not be 100% factual but then again there could be a chance it was. we do not know every thing, we can only guess and match up facts. until a better more solid theory is presented the big bang stands as true. but again, we do not have all the blocks all we can do is hypothesize how it was created. will probably never know what was before it and how it came to be.

The universe is expanding faster than it used to.

Any thoughts on why & how?

I had thought that if an initial explosion was the only cause then it would have to be slowing down.

Thanks for the wonderful argument! :congrats:

I already said that it doesn't make sense for the universe to be expanding...maybe the energy/matter within the universe is getting farther and farther apart from itself, but the universe itself cannot expand because this implies that it is finite.

Of interest to this discussion may be the terms: Mahakalpa and Mahapralaya

Hindu terms meaning; life cycle of the universe, and the end of the cycle.

Total time for the cycle in the Hindi tradition: just over 311 trillion years.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.

Are you implying that it isn't? For informations sake.

There are several misconceptions hidden in these statements:

?The BBT is not about the origin of the universe. Rather, its primary focus is the development of the universe over time.
?BBT does not imply that the universe was ever point-like.
?The origin of the universe was not an explosion of matter into already existing space.

Does the emboldened point imply that there was an origin of the universe?

Taken with the rest of what's written, I don't believe so. The big bang seems to be more about a stage of the universe's history than the origin of the universe itself. The universe as we know it, I guess.

Applying Occam's Razor I think it is more likely that their math is just wrong rather than just decide that there is a completely different kind of matter in existence that makes up 80% of this galaxy but has yet evaded detection.

Since you haven't seen their math you should be careful when applying Occam's Razor.
Sure, it's possible that their math is wrong, but I'm pretty fucking sure that was the first thing they checked.

I guarantee you that every single thing you can think of has already been considered by the world's astrophysicists. And they know a lot more than you or I do. The fact that they nearly all agree on dark matter is pretty telling, don't you think? (Apparently you don't)

There is no proof that dark matter exists.

Dark matter exerts gravitational force. We detected that already by studying colliding galaxies..

Saying the big bang theory is false is nonsense anyway since its a theory based upon...experiments and data collected by observation.

This statement doesn't make sense, you're saying that since the Big Bang is a theory based on experiments and data collected by observation, it has to be true. Where is the logic in that?

I think the biggest problem of the whole Dark Matter issue is the phrase. Who the fuck chose the phrase 'Dark Matter'? It should be called 'Invisible Mass'.

And if they wanted to be technical, they would call it the 'Inferred Invisible Mass'

Dark MAtter? I dont think so. Its not dark. We cant say its anything like matter that we understand. The only thing it has in common is that it has mass and that it is (on a galactic scale) localised in the universe.

Who agrees that the term Dark Matter should be replaced with the term Invisible Mass

???

Let's Make This Happen!

Conclusion: We drastically underestimated the mass of the galaxy. But the amount of mass required would require there to be 20 times as many stars in the galaxy as we thought. How come we can't see them?

The "conclusion" I see here is that somebodies previous guess turned out to be lousy and so we will now replace it with another guess using even less observable evidence.

Your conclusion is wrong.  "Guess"?  "Less Observable Evidence"?  Puh-lease...  Next you'll be telling us its "just a theory, not a fact".

It should be named Negro Matter.
