I hear you.  Sometimes I think the ultra-cynical attitude described by yourself and perpetuated on this site is whats wrong with this society.

Remember, millions of people make great sacrifices to take part in this society - there is immense good in it.

Dito. Societial norms are in a deadlock. They cant be changed. I dunno. I dunno. I dunno.

I may know at some point, but thinking about population and resources use and i realize that a large portion of the pop. has to die off if life is to be better.

I suggest joining a sustainable community, I plan on doing something similair...theres to much bullshit and interacting with public situations is plain depressive on multiple levels. This is a worthwhile goal and its not so hard to attain .

The 'cup-half-empty', cynical attitude clouds perceptions.  Consciously look for the good and soon enough it will naturally become apparent.

There's certainly plenty to get cynical about.  My favorite outrage of the moment is the banks using our tax dollars that we bailed them out with to lobby Congress for legislation favorable to their interests(even if it's against the interest of homeowners at risk of foreclosure).  But there are people who care.  There are people working to change things.  There has been many social evil that has been overcome with social progress.  Just look at slavery, for example.

Haha, I know what you're talking about, been there, the fix for me is to turn it into humor, make a joke about it, or it will indeed be depressing..

I don't see why you should be concerned about what's wrong with this society, because this society is what's wrong with humanity.

In the second paragraph, are you saying that there is immense good in this society because people make great sacrifices to take part in it?  Or are those two separate statements?

The best solution is to take part in creating more shit; that way you'll always be satisfied with the way things are going.  :awesome:

It's true.  I remember shitting five times Friday morning and I felt very satisfied, if not a little worn out.  :super:

My opinion?

People -- Good
Society -- Bad

Our nature is to cooperate and coexist but we've been told since birth that it's "dog eat dog out there" so that's how we make it.
