I think this place is still waiting to change me. It has that sort of quiet, mysterious vibe to it for some reason.

I think (and I probably think too much...) that this site is still in the beginning stages of developing into something more structured and useful for the general public.

(Many people will have nothing to do with psilcoybes in public but they may look at the site without getting a username. I would say a lot of people have been influenced in some way by this site's presence on the net. As a result of how its being used by others, I'm sort of in this patient state of waiting on global consciousness picking up the mushroom fervor.)

For me, the Shroomery's been like a psychedelic coffee house; a starbucks for the awkward and limping psychonaut who needs comradery with fellow psilosiblings. Most of my interactions have been rather impersonal (I've only met 4 shroomerites in person).

I think I crossed paths with the shroomery sometime in '99, a friend and I were looking for info on psychedelics as we had recently been informed that we could get them..the Shroomery was among the first of a few websites we found.  Never even realized the forums existed until a while after the fact..and of course at the time I didn't know exactly what I would be gettign myself into :wink:

To make a long story short, this place and the people I have met here have really helped me work towards fine tuning my general perseption of everything..probably significantly more so than alot of the crap  the alleged education system was continuously subjecting me to growing up..  S&P had such an amazing impact on me particularly..I wasn't usually one to share my thoughts very much but there was just something about seeking alternate points of view that really kept refueling my interest. Absolutely absorbing  discussions, the people nothing short of awesome.. I mean like a number of others I'm sure I didn't really come here initially with a very solid interest in learning how to grow mushrooms..but instead on how they operate on the mind/body, and how exactly they might trigger such profound experiences in people..  I guess this place kind of acted as almost like a kind of gateway for me, a centerpiece which stimulated my interest in areas I hadn't really thought about before - or atleast with the conviction to take some of the shit that was going on in that ADHD'd out brain of mine seriously..

So yeah, and here I am years later in the present still persuing a number of interests I can remember discovering from my early Shroomery days.. so far it has left me with maybe 20 or so doses or so under my belt, a couple very profound aya' experiences, a handful of DMT flashes.. (but have still yet to try good LSD :frown: ) Not to mention this place helped me immensely in kicking a couple bad habbits..one of those instances being more recently.. I have nothing but pure gratitude for the Shroomery's existance and I definitely think there is probably alot more to this community than what 'meets the eye'..so to speak. I mean for someone to say this website is about any 'one' thing doesn't seem like it could really do such a diverse community justice.. Hell, our governments could probably even learn a thing or two about how they might thoughtfully and responsibly run a system housing masses of people with their best interests in mind.. (or perhaps even vice versa in some cases)  :syringe:  :evil:

Shroomery really didn't change my life, at my age things are kind of set in the inevitable moat ion that will bring you to the end of all things....

But it has brought me great joy to associate with all you good people and actually meet about 45 of you IRL!

Can't wait for the spring!

today i was thinking about how the shroomery has influenced my life and i remembered this thread.
I think it made me better at holding a conversation with people that i dont know... i used to be very shy and didnt know what to say around plp. Now i even am a smartass to people without even really trying to be mean to them, i just say my opinion.

The shroomery is the only real place I truly act as myself.  I truly and honestly express myself without holding back.

As much as I'd like to think I am this person in real life, I am not.

I have to play the "social" game to fit in and to succeed in todays world, but here I am simply "me"

I thought for awhile this place was becoming a negative strain on me and my development, but the opposite is true

Honestly? I've learned that there's some really obnoxious cunts here and in real life, and I pity them.

Like for example, I was at an unemployed dole scum course, there was this guy with an ugly scar on his throat, and he constantly took the piss out of everyone. (I, being that I have a crop of healthy, shiny, big hair, got called "crazy hair").

Yesterday was my last day, I took him and one of the other guys to a pub and bought the first round. We had a good chat, share similar tastes in drum and bass, turns out he has OCD, and gets through the day with banter.

I've learned there and here that tolerance is where it's at. I like the first amendment, even if it does mean I have to listen to some tripe from some people.

Edit: I'm more or less aware I'm one of those obnoxious cunts. I'm working on it.

Man, i do not typicaly put shit on a pedastule, but yeah i guess if i had to credit one source for who i am today, the shroomery has definatley shaped my life a lot.

  Like many, it started with want to cultivate some shroomes, and once i did, i started to trip a lot and learn a lot, really modifying the way i lived my life.  Shroomes led me to my kundalini awakeningi which has really changed me, and continues to. 
  As for the shroomery goes, i just like the down to earth atmosphere, yeah there are punks that get under myskin, but thats also my fault, and i have learn to accept that is a fact of life anywhere you go.
  There are a lot of intelligent people here that have helped when i have a question and i have learned and continue to learn from.  And now that i have my shit togethr a bit, i try to give back some of the wisdom i have picked up, and the cycle continues....

Also, one last thing, i found it to be a great feeling to read, read, and read about the hobby of cultivating shroomes, and when you are able to reap the rewards of all the time it is a great feeling, inspired me to try to get good at other things.  ANyone who has grown them, know its definatley not trivial, and there are awesome guides, but almost always, youll have to make some judgement c alls that require a basic understanding of the fundumental principals, that can only be learned by expierence and reading.

How has the Shroomery changed my life though? Well, I've only been here a few months but it's helped solidify who I am. I'm still young, and it's easy to be who you truly are online in a forum like this (or who you're really not), so I think it's helped me merge who I pretend to be in real life with who I really am, the person who posts here everyday.

There's more but people reading this aren't going to care too much...
