Quote: Thank you for taking this serious. I think maybe deep down it may be a self-confidence issue. I feel I NEED to do it, this thread has shown me that now. I wish I could fight the urge.
Aw, well, I'm going through something similar, only it's just with pornography itself and I am single, but I've been debating whether it's truly worth my time. I didn't suddenly think porn was evil, it's more like: I've been looking at it for 6 years with an average of 3 times a week. Sometimes more during the week, sometimes less.
The many hours I've spent seeking pleasure when there is a greener pasture on the other side is fruiting in front of my eyes though. I've learned some good things from porn about what I am comfortable with along with others. I've been using the excuse, "Well there could be more things that I can learn from it." That's just me fooling myself though because I know I've gotten everything I wanted out of it.
I have noticed that smoking weed has helped a little. I smoke, feel aroused, watch something, but right as I am done, I instantly realize I am back at my same old problem. Weed just heightens my senses in every manner, both physically and mentally.
Quitting is hard because it's something I've been doing for so long. I know the answer and what I want, it's more like, "When do I have the motivation to truly stop?" So talking to you about this is helping me out as well. I've came to accept it's a healing process as long as I make progress.
I've been trying to quit for about 1-2 years off and on. Coming up with excuses on why to look at it. I don't feel guilty, just more like, when is enough enough? If I were to die tomorrow, would one of the last things I did on earth was spend a solid hour masturbating to some chick online?
Open love and sex is different one someone else is benefitting with you. I've come to learn that porn is a one way street, and is that how I want to live my life? Other people can do as they want and as far as I am concerned, people will only stop based on their inner voice, and feel like I've made progress considering I've spent many years not questioning it.
Step 1: Recognizing the problem Step 2: Ending the problem.
