Okay i think that is pretty cool and interesting and all but how does it apply to consciousness?  I don't seem to understand the

That would be what life does for a living, feedback and resonances everywhere. That's what we observe in simple chaotic system out of equilibrium, that's what we observe at the core of cells in the form of a chaotic chemical dance, that's what an organism do once it grows various types of "fingers" and touch it's senses with it's senses, its moods with its moods and its thoughts with its thoughts; a dizzying hall of mirrors. Could life do something to understand life in scientific terms ? I don't know, probably it could grasp it in broad traits, but one can mesh indefinitely around something until one hits its own limitedness. Those limits expands though, evolution and all that, so there's no way to tell if what's impossible now might not be possible tomorrow.

Just wanted to add that under such conditions, life is consciousness, dogs try to catch their own tail for a while, and we quite literally do the same.

We might outgrow this tendency one day and be able to tell why and what is it we were trying to catch, laugh at ourselves, change the type of question we ask and put aside consciousness with the phlogiston and geocentrism, but for now we keep running in circle like those oh so funny dogs.

I guess thats true, reptiles don't have emotions like mammals do tho.  Their actions are based solely on instinct their brains operate in "R complex".  I have been trying to get a hold of the book in the title something about the bicameral mind, but yet to find the time.
