Got dreads?

Had em for 3 years, but they got thin and started snapping so I cut em off. I found em the other day and just finished transplanting em onto my Rasta man.

I've got dreads.  It kicks ass going months without combing your hair and seeing what it will naturally do.

I'm getting mine.  Not doing anything special for them though, just letting them grow into the hair I have. 

I've got a few, and more to come, I'm sure.

Naturally grown using patience.

Dreads are great. I've had mine for a little over 2 years now. I knotted them up myself but didn't use any products. The maturation process is really beautiful. They have really settled into their form.  and some people tell me my dreads are the best smelling dreads ever. I love these damn things and the longer the get the longer i wanna keep em.

Mine smell like hair.. :shrug:.. I never ever ever wash them :grin:.

I'm guilty of beeswaxing mine up though.. it really helps them become solid and prevents random strands of hair.

I must add that chicks dig my hair :grin: and that if you keep them neat and tidy you can actually look quite respectable (I look more respectable with them than I did without).

I love your dreads...they truly are beautiful and smell awesome.  I remember in NYC last month I couldn't stop fondling them, hehe.  :grin:

if you take care of them they really aren't dirty or smelly. They smell yea like hair. It like has that person smell.  I remember meeting krishna for the first time. His dreads are really beautiful and it totally made me want to have em. They are just so majestic.

I feel like dreads have all this time and history wrapped up in each bundle. makes my head feel like an old tree.

Eventually I may get to the point where I'm ready for them...I helped dread my friend Sam's hair.  It seemed like a long process - even after the dreads were in. 

I know I want to experience dreads before I die; maybe in a few years, or maybe sooner depending on how I feel. 

What is the best length of hair to have before you put in dreads?

I started with just above tit height hair.. I ended up with just above shoulder length dreads.. It also depends on how fat you wanted em.. I like mine quite fat :grin:.

If you can, get one person to do all of it, so its consistent throughout.

I wish I had dreads I almost was going to do it when I had long hair. My hair is curly doesn't that mean my dreads would be kind of poofy though?

Yeah, I recently got dreads.  I've had them for about three months now.  I got them put in in Thailand.  They put them in in a way that I've never seen before.  Basically they took a tuff of hair twisted it and stabbed it repeatedly with this metal rod with a very tiny hook on the end.  It took five hours of sitting in the gutter of Kasson Road drinking beer and looking in one direction.

Mine are a little thin for my liking but still cool.  There also really clean, I wash them all the time, you just have to wash them with bar soap or a non hydrating soap.

i wanted to get dreads when i first grew my hair out and was a teenager.

then i realized i would just be waving a flag saying "arrest me i do drugs".

Im about 1/3 of the way to a whole head of dreads, and its taken over a year. Just this week I started having second thoughts though. I did mine naturally and they dont look as good as the profesionally done "fake" ones. They are very gangly looking...very clean though.
