prob about a week or so after it hits the wall, maybe a bit longer

also my culture also turns the agar a darker color (blackish)

Oh, no problem on waiting. I planned on doing at least two more transfers before doing any "serious" work with these cultures. (I learned that lesson the hard way.)

I am VERY glad to hear the tip on darkness for the cultures. I had no idea.

These were going to be a 'long wait' kind of project, but the stuff grows so fast, I find that I'm constantly checking up on it. Does it slow down when refrigerated? At what temperature? Best method of storage for morel mycelium? I will probably make masters on agar slants in class cylinders with external screw-top lids and parafilm. What about using cryoprotectants in small amounts to increase life-time? Is this only a hazard (the cold) under the extremes of liquid nitrogen?

I'm about to try reviving some oysters on agar that I've had refrigerated for about two months. Will be allowing to come to RT and then transferring directly to sterilized coffee grounds (mixed with vermiculite to increase circulation, etc.).

I've observed that the cultures I've done turn the agar dark as well. This one was picked April 11th.

When they mature they turn yellow or gray.

The first culture and one transfer.
