Try harder
I wouldnt take one persons opinion too seriously, unless you have come to trust their opinion through other circumstances.
If you might be pathetic, check this checklist:
Do you have a job or go to school? Do you provide for yourself ? Are you kind to others ?
If you said no to the above, you might be pathetic, but their are plenty of reasons you could also be normal....who knows. do you feel pathetic?

I don't think there's a "protocol" I also don't know the terms of your relationship because it could make the situation entirely different. First of all there has to be a particular reason for which you've been called pathetic so you should analyze that. I would appreciate the honesty though. Ahhh yes, and don't obsess over that moment.

To be truly pathetic is to not be happy with one's life, but do nothing to fix it.
If you are one of those people, yes, you are pathetic.

Pathetic, is another word for bad...
So ehat probally happened and made her call you that was that you gave her an experience that to her seemed bad.
Though, in giving her the experience of bad, you open the door for her to experience of good...because good is only experienced through what we have experienced bad to be and vice versa.
Think of good and bad, like two different colors...Now imagine being, all your life trapped in the color that you think correponds as bad...all your life.
Can you honestly say, sincerly that you would be able to know the color as something you dislike or like something good or bad, if you didnt have another color in the room, excpet that one?
To me no, because in order to prefer something, such as good, there must be something that you see as bad that enables you to say, this is good and this is bad.
So really you have not given her a bad experience only...you have actually opened up the doors for her to have a better experience, in the now.
Just think about spoiled kids. Why do they think getting what they want on christmas is good and the other option bad...while kids who usually get nothing on christmas and see that the other kids are not getting anything either, do not see it as bad to not get it.
-------------------- The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution. And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change. Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems. Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....
