Southcott (l974) Am physcian from South Austrlia, mentioned that Schizophyllum commune Fr. contained hallucinogens. Mycologist Roy Watling (l989, Pers. Comm.)of the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland labels this species as toxic, and according to Dr. Andrew Weil (l988, Pers. Comm.), this species is not psychoactive.

It is sold openly and used throughout Indonesia as a gum base.

And Weil talks about itin his book Marriage of the Sun and the Moon.

I have never heard this story before of it appearing in peop[les mouths.

Hehehe.. very strange.

ok check this link mj i first saw this in my Peterson field guide to mushrooms in north america but looking into it more i found this

it colud be a myth but i realy want to know if it is or not i have to say that is scary who knows what else colud be out there what secrets lay hidden in mushrooms..
