Really? I thought lsd was very clearheaded. Theres something about mushrooms though that makes my attention span similar to a goldfish. I guess i need more experience with those two. I trip on ayahuasca, LSA, and DXM more than anything.

in response to you devided. All those things you mentioned i experience profoundly on mushrooms.... id say put this in your pipe....but im afraid of what it might do:cool:

If you already look at "the big picture" kind of naturally, and what you say is true about mushrooms (which it is but i feel somes left out :P) than wouldnt that in its self give you insight to "the big picture"? Yet its personalized so theoretically more comprehensible?

Maybe it's different brains, but I also have to wonder if you've gotten real LSD because the mindfuck is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less than mushrooms. So much less disorienting and I never have to think "Wait, is that real or just the drugs?" I've never thought that I was actually dying with LSD.

Your last point is pretty valid, the mushroom micro cognitive insights can be more comprehensible and personal. I think they do emotional and individual stuff better. However, LSD is much more effective for clearing the big brush like distorted worldviews, existential confusion, rigid personalities, insecurity, etc.  Comprehensible does not necessarily mean more life changing. LSD is much more of a Buddhist/existentialist experience for me, and since I'm a Buddhist I find it very valuable. Mushrooms are more nature/humanist.

That is why I think mushrooms are more advanced, to me they are vastly more emotionally intense and disorienting so set and setting become extremely important. And further they are good for integrating the stuff you get on acid in a more personal way, but I think you really have to get the acid message FIRST and then work down into more personal regions. You've got to deal with the big problems, and then the little ones.

i think it depends on what you want...i feel real energized on LSD but on mushrooms i think i have a more spiritual trip and love to be outdoors in the woods or in a field or somewhere where you can reall appreciate nature

I feel much more sharp and clear on lsd. I really only do "low" doses (compared with a lot of the ones I've heard at least), like 1 or 2 hits. It gives me a good and very functional feeling, I like the feeling on acid and have no real desire to do any other drugs. I can be out in public on acid and look much more normal, I have more tact in dealing with people so that they won't realize I'm under the influence. Mushrooms I tend to have more difficult trips on. It's really hard to put either one into words, or evaluate them according to some sort of score sheet. I will say the first thing that comes to mind though, and that is that a mushroom trip feels more "slurred" than an lsd trip, and I feel more intoxicated.

Whether or not one is more "beneficial" than the other isn't something I can argue; I am not a scientist.

But I can say that 4 out of every 10 times I do mushrooms the experience is intensely emotional, so much so that I usually end up crying and unhappy. With acid I've only cried once, and that was because I was laughing so hard that I felt like I was about to explode.

I agree with everyone else that says it's a preference though

Seriously man, stop treating LSD like a junk drug when you've never tried it. Yes, most people think much more clearly on LSD in comparison to mushrooms. The mindfuck is far less severe. They are both very unique psychedelics that should be respected. I am not trying to flame you, I just don't know what grudge you have against LSD when you haven't got a clue. You may have met some fucked up ex-acid-heads, but more than likely they were fucked up before the acid.
Just saying. LSD is no more just 'a drug to get fucked up on' than mushrooms are. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, sure, but bashing a drug you've never had experience with kind of invalidates yours.

im not bashing it so much as i dont feel it should be held to the same standard as mushrooms. For me mushrooms are about control and strength of mind. Ive had one bad trip, but it ended up turning in to the best trip ive ever had too, lol go figure. I havent tried it youre right about that part, however i believe the question was beneficial. To me from a spiritual stand point mushrooms are more beneficial, thanks to this thread im gonna try lsd lol. But i have a distinct feeling its gonna be a lot of what i think it is, ive known tons of people who have done it and their explanations are usually pretty bland. Sounds like lots of visuals and simple pleasures, but this is where the preferences come in and im willing to respect that.
I prefer a complex high, i love thinking about abstract shit for 6-8 hours. I guess its to say id rather think and feel than see shit.

U also have to take into effect frame of mind. Most of my friends who do lsd do it just for the high. Not many go trying it for the spiritual aspects. However if that's what you want out of the drug than it can be achieved much the same fashion as mushrooms.

Then you should make LSD complex. Now I have an LSD complex.

Sometimes I make mushrooms simple. Afterall, they are simply mushrooms.

They are both equal; I've had mushroom trips that felt like an acid trip, and vice versa.

In a way, Mushrooms and LSD are like hammer and nail; each is so much better by cross referencing experiences.

you got it! those are my exact feelings.  The experiences you gain from both benefit each other so much.  It becomes ridiculous to even speculate which is more beneficial. My acid and mushroom trips are all like pieces of a puzzle that I'm slowly putting together, one trip at a time.:psychsplit:

When you find yourself submerged into the universe with no boundaries between your mind, body and the world and the infinite cacophony of every sound around you rises in intensity until it gets distorted into a fractal waveform OM that bleeds into your visual field illuminating your mind as pure energy ebbing and flowing in and out of yourself into the earth whose intelligent collective being is spontaneous breathing out experience and life...

Or if you find yourself reliving your own birth, regressing into a young child or even a plant or animal...

You will think differently about LSD. It is MUCH more than visuals. It dissolves all boundaries and takes you outside your mind and body and expands your awareness of the world around to a degree far beyond mushrooms.

Well firstly, in my little experience with it, LSD will NEVER be what you expect it to be. Alot like mushrooms, actually.
Mushrooms are abstract, LSD is logic. Almost polar opposites in that respect. And since you specifically used the words complex high I highly encourage you to try LSD to get a better understanding of it, but leave your expectations here at home. It isn't all about "seeing shit." It's just a different perspective.
And really, I wasn't trying to make a fool out of you with my earlier post. If someone were on a forum talking about how they would never do mushrooms because 'seeing shit' doesn't appeal to them, I'm sure you'd let them know there's alot more to it than they believe.

To answer the question of which is more beneficial to me, I'd say mushrooms are more spiritually and emotionally beneficial, and LSD is more mentally and creatively beneficial.

Ya.
Anyone who likes psychedelics, and feels like they have an opinion about lsd without having tried it is kinda just being stupid.

Lsd is by far my favorite psychedelic. Aside from ayahuasca which is more like mushrooms than anything else really.

You have to know very little about psychedelics in general to assume that lsd is all about the visuals. Some people just like to get really weird and high on psychedelics like lsd. That doesnt say anything about what lsd can really do though.

For those who look for structure and order within a psychedelic experience, and mind machines that dont belong to you, then lsd is for you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Lsd will always be the most ordered and complex hallucinogen I have taken.
Lsd can make your mind feel like a geometric supercomputer capable of almost inhuman thought processes and organizational capabilities.
Mushrooms are like a more subtle computer that works just as well, but provides less earthbound logic because god only knows where all the input is coming from. SO many hidden wires. My theory is that this is for the most part why mushrooms seem more magical than lsd for about 50-60% of users. As if the knowledge attained came from somewhere more mysterious and sacred.
-----------------------------reflection------------------------------
On mushrooms I *see vines, chain links and webs of organic form(as if it was truely alive and seperate of the self).

On lsd I *see the structure behind the dmt/psi curvatures, and it is filled with stunning perfection and acute angles.
What impresses me about lsd, is the mind machines, the blueprints that seem endless, and they just might be endless.....lol
---------------------------------------------------------------------

To anyone who actually believes lsd is inferior:

Stop comparing psychedelics.
If lsd had a "spirit" and you thought less of it than say mushrooms, I have a stong feeling that it would laugh about it and never tell you why. (Metaphorically)

Side note, I was just reading The Psychedelic Encyclopedia, by Peter Stafford and in the Ayahausca chapter he says that DMT and LSD have a cross tolerance while DMT and psilocybin do not. It's interesting because they seem to be so molecularly similar.

So you like that song too......lol
Thats kind of the punch-line in the song so I left it out.

They all have some sort of effect on eachother when taken at similare times, but that is an interesting point.

That may be because he is talking about smoked dmt which wouldnt really effect *my mushroom trip the next day or the day of. It would if anything make it more intense.

Its these longer experiences are the cause for tolorance.
It has little to do with the chemicals, and has more to do with where they take you and how long you are in that place.

Lsd and mushrooms do have a cross tolorance as you said. Kind of like how mushrooms work when taken days in a row.

If you take ayahuasca one day, and then mushrooms the next, your mushrooms trip will likely be much more insane than if you had not taken ayahuasca. Paradoxically, it may be less visual though.

It has alot to do with after effects and the longevity of any given experience.
Desensitization.............
I think it has more to do with cognition than some actual chemical tolerance.
I can trip balls on lsd two days in a row. The second day makes my (sort of) hypothesis more clear to me.
I just dont think it is ever a hit or miss sort of thing.

For example, a massive dose of lsd taken one week before the next trip at the same dose can actually make the second trip MUCH MORE intense in certain ways. If the second dose had been taken 3 days earlier, it would have seemed lame as hell compared to the first.

Tolerance, cross tolerance, and reverse tolerance is one hell of a complex subject actually.

OOOH! i don't know how I missed this thread but please check out my similar thread  here:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7349027/an/0/page/0

All inputs were excellent for me but Divided_Sky's input for me was particlarly insightful . All those reading this thread woudl benefit form it.

My two cents/pence:

I find LSD gives me SO MUCH to take back into reality and I'm actually feelign somewhat insulted by the ignorance that DARES  to suggest LSD does not have the capability to be a spiritual/self expanding/mind expaning/perspective changing substance.

If you dont want to do it because you don't Curiosity_Breach then thats your perogative but please stop talking nonsense about it as though you have.

ALL psychedelics can be "wahey! let's get wasted!!" drugs for people who are so minded. When people think of a psychedleic experience in thsoe terms then thats their right but IMO it means they're not getting the full benefits.

I completely agree with MorphMan in most of what he has said.

When I dont get the full benefits of Mushrooms I dont blame the drug and say its naff and rubbish and incapable of giving me anything to take back to the "real world". Its all in MY mind and I obviously have stumbling blocks there. The "eye" of this beholder is in need of tuning.
