Whos your Favourite Musical Artist Right Now?

I mean, my favorite artist, anytime, is David Byrne.

But as far as current musicians actively making music at the moment it'd LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, The Arcade Fire, Wilco, Spoon, Interpol and Stephen Malkmus. And probably a ton of others, too.

Right now I'm getting a kick listening to all the Led Zeppelin albums, I'm not a huge fan, but still love loads of their songs.

My perenial favourite artists/groups (as I just can't choose one) are Bob Dylan, Talking Heads/David Byrne, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Phish, Janis Joplin, Julian Cope and Cat Stevens.

Bjork would be in that cluster, but I personally think her recent album is utter pants, though I seem to be in the minority!

I haven't made a final call on Volta but I have to say, it does seem to fall flat. Declare Independence and Earth Intruders are cool and all but the album as a whole...I don't know. I expected so much more.

A huge emotional balloon deflated with a giant raspberry the first time I listened to it.

After seven desperate listens over two weeks I found myself doing the "Volta dance" from my book shelf to my bag, selecting Volta then returning Volta, I should give it another chance, nah I can't be bothered.

Are you into Wilco? What do you think of their latest? I'm hearing a lot of "It's boring" complaints from people I know and around this board but I really enjoy the groove they've gotten themselves into. Sure it's a bit comfortable and not that much a departure from A Ghost is Born (they really fell in love with the Spiders (Kidsmoke) sound) but it's a damn good album.

Heard some Wilco that sounded a bit Grateful Dead-like, which is cool in my book, definitely a group I've got lined up to check out.

Oh boy you should really check them out. I've liked them since the Uncle Tupelo days when they were an alt-country act, even that stuff is pretty damn good. Anyone interested should download the Uncle Tupelo Anthology, it's a two-disc-er.

Wilco is amazing though, one of the best bands out right now. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Being There are killer albums.

Have you heard the bonus song "The Thanks I Get" off Wilco's latest album? What a fucking catchy song.

Apparently it wasn't put on the album because he didn't want anything negative about him and his ex-wife on it. It's a shame, though, because it's quite a catchy song. It could have been a kick-ass single.

The Microphones, Qwel, Treepeople, Built to Spill, The Avalanches, DJ Shadow, Cunninlynguists, Battles and Shellac are what I've listened to so far today.

I'm on a White Stripes kick these days. Normally it's Radiohead, but they haven't released anything in a while.
