RunDMT's Music suggestion thread
    #2456636 - 03/21/04 08:25 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Here it is! Upon request, believe it or not.

I feel obligated to start out with Krumelur's "Minimal Animal", probably the most important milestone in Minimalism, and also probably my very favorite. It's weird, Swedish, minimal, warm, jazzy and absolutely mindbending during the right circumstances.:heart:

Krumelur: Minimal Animal (Crotus 2002)

1. Minimal Animal
2. Nuts
3. Bending Birdbeats
4. The Antpeople
5. Knorr
6. What do you think?
7. Big Troublems
8. Warm Swarm

I didn't read that, but I wanted to add that I think you're a little too harsh on infected mushroom. They may not be as good as the music you prefer.. but that doesn't mean they're not good in our north american ears.  :O

Next up is an act that pulls some serious respect. They never lose touch in their flawless production. One of the biggest names ever in progressive psy, out of Sweden - Son Kite.

Son Kite: Minilogue
(Nova Tekk 2000)

1. Deuce
2. Imprint
3. Back beyond rotation
4. Levitate
5. Fungi funk
6. Openfaced
7. Phony phonic

This is where things get interesting... The two Swedes switch labels to the unknown "Digital Structures", one of the most respected labels ever these days.

Son Kite: Perspectives of...
(Digital Structures 2001)

1. Collection
2. (W)holy road in Monterrey
3. Where?s my drum?
4. If ashtrays could talk
5. Bitter sweet
6. Driveshaft
7. Hi-fi stomp session
8. Clockwise
9. Aiwana

Son Kite: Aiwana Remixes (Digital Structures 2002)

1. DJ Nukem remixes
2. Flow mix
3. Original version
4. Downbeat mix

They will be releasing their long awaited 3rd album this year in March or April. I?m quite excited.

A few videos, found at http://www.SonKite.com

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3

Yes. Both Ott and Younger Brother loosely fits into that category, or rather 'psyambient'. Though Blumenkraft is sort of a dub experiment.

Another awesome act that should not be overlooked is Shulman.

Shulman: Soundscapes & Modern Tales (Shaffel 2002)

1. Small grey creatures
2. New paradigm
3. First came the stars
4. Take a walk outside
5. Elements
6. Avant garden
8. Shiogo
9. Aion

And the sizzling new album...

Shulman: In search of a meaningful moment (Aleph Zero 2003)

1. Inner selves Sample
2. The unexpected visitor Sample
3. A magnificent void Sample
4. Consciousness revoked Sample
5. Random lifelines Sample
6. Mushroom therapy Sample
7. Another paradigm
8. Instability Sample

If you're after straight up ambient, I definitely suggest Vidna Obmana. This one first and foremost:

Vidna Obmana: The surreal sanctuary (Hypnos 2000)

1. Infinity
2. Lamentation
3. The first coil
4. The profound isolates
5. Jewel of the underground
6. The fragmented dome
7. Flame

Back on the topic of Progressive...

Igneous Sauria: Encepfalophagus
(CreamCrop 2003)

1. Encepfalophagus
2. Pustracer
3. Heliumdoron
4. McNutCrak
5. Cluster
6. Crispy
7. Enigmata
8. A-muser
9. Skogsra
10. Falcherun

This is one hell of a stylish debut album... Intelligent construction that goes from grinding progressive to a more 'techy' approach. Might be a bit tough to digest at first, but definitely a great album.

Its always a good sign when cd's have 7-9 tracks
Personally all the psychedelic/goa trance I've ever listened to are Israeli, the best country in this genre in my honest opinion!
Get "Retro - 10 years of Israeli Trance"... then we talk music...!

More loved ones out of Digital Structures...

This is an absolutely insane album... Straight out of Poland.  It's not very thorough in style, nor traditional sounding. It's quite unique, and I think that's what makes it appeal so much to me. People call it "amateur", "too weird" and so on... Personally, I can't wait to get more of this stuff.

BigWigs: Fraktalik Fraterniti (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Coder Avenza
2. Pianogra
3. Trele Morele
4. Generau Gruw
5. Pusi Intruder
6. Robot Meloman
7. Papa Gejos
8. Autotent
9. Body Louszyn
10. Zajzajer
11. Not Siuer Jet

Moving on to Ticon, another Swedish act out of DS. They've got that mellow, cool, summer breeze sound down like no other. Which they demonstrate quite nicely on the latest album. Though the debut, Rewind, is not to be forgotten.

Ticon: Rewind (Digital Structures 2001)

1. You can have my fraggles
2. Gurk burk
3. Wank the skank
4. 2 steps forward and 1 to the left
5. The cozy cactus
6. We are the mammoth hunters
7. Super model girlfriend
8. Play my boy
9. Mona bone

And the latest...

Ticon: Aero (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Don't tell me I sing like a robot
2. Waiting for the knights
3. Elt
4. Some simple sounds
5. Vox pabiscum
6. Groovin the bed
7. It breakz my heart
8. Back to basic
9. Ghost in the machinery
10. Bonanza
11. Snooze da booze

Another well rooted act, previously on Spiral Trax, that's evolved and ended up on DS - Vibrasphere.

Vibrasphere: Lime Structure (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Soul wire
2. Lemon phase
3. Newport
4. Time shifter
5. Manzanilla
6. Indian summer
7. Purple floating
8. Infusion
9. Silver sun

I love their new sound. Definitely DS material.

I think that's enough progressive for now, time for some nutty minimal. :crazy2:

Yeah most of the traditional psy is out of Israel, though we scandinavians have some very well respected acts in that style.

The Progressive and Minimal genres however, were not only spawned in Scandinavia, but we also have all of the top artists still to this day.

This is nice, seeing as there's lots of opportunities to catch their live acts and maybe smoke some herb with the artists.

I would like to make a suggestion..

Space Monkey - Psychotic Episode (2004)

[ ReleaseNotes ]

This style brings a new dimension to an Israeli full on.
Space Monkey is Kfir Shmilovich, fresh name in psy trance who was born
and raised in Germany. Kfir had moved to Israel 5 year ago and created a
very strong connection to a local Psy full on world and culture.
It expends its limits with atmosphere waves, electronica intentions and
irresistible dance floor energies. His unique sound proportion
concentrates the focus on the ideas behind the music, the Goa trance
legends and the global evolution elements are the core of this debut
album.
Space Monkey sets the destination in his Psychotic Episode.

[Tracklist]

01. Megalomania 08:11
02. Distorted Reality 07:56
03. Game Over 08:18

Now... There are a few acts that I love to bits, but they don't have anything released as of yet, or just a few songs out on compilations or EPs... Take your time to find these, it'll be worth it. Some of my absolute favorites are among these.

The Cujorius One
(some of it can be found here)

Static Corn
(some of it can be found here)

The Gnome Effect

Insane Creation

Comadura

Rotor

Puttimutten

Pulzyie

NASA

Frechbax

Thorin Bleef

Archaic Labor

Darwish

Lurifilur

And some equally nutty released stuff...

Paps: 2000 Hands - The Remixes (Zillion Mental Anarchic 2001)

1. Paps - 2000 Hands Original version
2. Intact Instinct - Remix
3. Opsis - Remix
4. Son Kite - Remix
5. Yumade - Remix
5. Morphem - Remix

Sensient: Blue Neevus (Tatsu 2003)

1. Lovely bones
2. File not found
3. Silkworms
4. Triptium
5. Energy roll
6. Blissbomb
7. Bawak
8. Format ex

A pretty shitty album by Oryx:

Oryx: On the Run (Tatsu 2002)

1. The Man
2. Mesmorized
3. Jones bassweaver
4. Sergio
5. Mount neverest
6. Naptune
7. Mesmorized (think bigger mix)
8. Once upon a time

And a giant step in the right direction, as Oryx switches label to the pimperiffic Iboga Records!

Oryx: Advanced Retromodel (Iboga 2004)

1. The crow Sample
2. Bricks and stones Sample
3. Electro cute Sample
4. Kong fusion Sample
5. Connect it Sample
6. Yugi Sample
7. Funky five Sample
8. This goes back Sample
9. Jaw Control Sample

I'd be lying my ass off if I said I didn't enjoy this one.

This is the best damn compilation, in my opinion, released 2003. Period.
The line up is outstanding, and you can tell it's custom made because they all manage to maintain an outstanding feel to the whole thing.

Being the first album out of a brand new label, Zenon Records, this predicts a sweet future.

V.A. Eyes Rolling (Zenon 2003)

1. Phat Kontrollerz - Flat control
2. Triplex - His problem child
3. Krumelur - Dunkia Motive
4. BigWigs - Vibrafon (Sensient remix)
5. Sensient - Vector Director
6. Mantik - Centauri Pasta
7. Mekanizm - Agitate
8. Sun Control Species - Proxima 5598
9. Praecox - Kizi mizi

Figured this was worth mentioning... Originally, it was released out of a label called "Music 70" back in '95, although only 100 copies were made.

It's been remastered and dropped again, this time out of WARP records.
Total classic.

Boards of Canada: Twoism (Warp 2003)

1. Sixtyniner
2. Oirectine
3. Iced cooly
4. Basefree
5. Twoism
6. Seeya later
7. Melissa juice
8. Smokes quantity

Aye, Blumenkraft is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Hope you enjoy that Krumelur! I'll play some at tonight's little gathering in your honor (and everyone else's who decided to check it out!).

Sorry about the delay in updating this here thread, I haven't been home this week. Figured I'd go for a deeper look into the crazy Iboga Records! But right now I'm late for partying, so until then - Much love, and have a great Friday!

Alrighty...  Time for Iboga Records! It's pretty much safe to say that everything that comes out of this Danish label is good stuff, especially the compilations. Very reliable indeed.

Starting out with Antix's debut, "Lull". Good progressive funk from end to end, only problem I have with it is that I've played it too much.

Antix: Lull (Iboga 2003)

1. Darko
2. Hit the frog n toad
3. Blood
4. Chase
5. Capella
6. Free as we are
7. On the rock
8. Slave to dose

Yeah I know I've already put this one up, but it felt left out from it's Iboga crew.

Oryx: Advanced Retromodel (Iboga 2004)

1. The crow Sample
2. Bricks and stones  Sample
3. Electro cute Sample
4. Kong fusion Sample
5. Connect it Sample
6. Yugi Sample
7. Funky five Sample
8. This goes back Sample
9. Jaw Control Sample

Next up is the new album from Beat Bizarre. It just dropped two weeks ago, and I haven't had time to listen to it enough yet, sadly. But rest assured, it's good shit.

Beat Bizarre: Pandora's Groove Box (Iboga 2004)

1. Flagpole safari Sample
2. Eavesdrop pop Sample
3. Corrosive juices Sample
4. Booger launcher Sample
5. Urban disturbances Sample
6. Pests for pets Sample
7. Caugama Sample

Moving on to a definite classic. The sound is somewhat aged, and they've moved on to a more straight progressive style at present, but those fat basslines lets you know it's still the same ol' Reefer Decree.

Reefer Decree: Sound Frames (Iboga 2001)

1. Animal planet
2. Percaution
3. It did
4. Mortal wombat II
5. Spinal tics
6. Pulse train
7. Soundframed
8. Time drop

Can't let these Danes go without being mentioned...

Phony Orphants: Symphony (Iboga 2003)

1. Pitch bitch
2. Dead expressing
3. Horny enphants
4. Global wonderground
5. Symphony
6. Chicago Collins
7. Papa chango
8. XLNT

Also worth mentioning... BLT switches labels and style, according to Iboga standards. Here's a small EP taste of the upcoming album.

BLT: News (Iboga 2004)

1. BLT & Danni Makov - News Sample
2. BLT vs. DJ Nadi - Space Boogie (Rmx) Sample
3. Antix - Free as we are (BLT Rmx) Sample

Now for what Iboga is known for... The compilations! I don't have much to say about these other than that they're all prime 100% bad ass.

2. Trickster - Daredevil  Sample

Time for today's tip! Monday, isn't it? Either way... Some small Italian label burped up, unexpectedly, this load of sweetness not so long ago. It's one mean mother..!

V.A. Perfect Evolution (Innersound 2003)

1. Mindfly - Midnight nation
2. Chikaka - Lick the Stamp
3. Front Minimale - Storyteller
4. Psy XS - Searching for knowledge
5. Ectopile - Cannabits
6. Cujorius One - Stereo Noise
7. Mazenga - Designed voyage
8. Dark Nebula - Asteroids movements
9. Ron Lyner - Know your fears

This is seemingly (to me atleast, the rest of the world would probably disagree) an air tight project, what with acts like Cujorius One and Front Minimale on there. I'm glad they're finally getting some "commercial" play.

ever try to listen to real music like guitar, bass, (real) drums, and vocals? i know some of that stuff is creative and not saying anyone can throw an album together or anything but it just can't compare to real music imo, especially trippin i get all natury and want to get away from the high paced neon light society we live in and that's what that music represents to me, maybe could handle it on mdma but other than that probably throw the cd player out the window  just being difficult

Actually a lot of this music is based on both digital and analogue, vocals, bass, guitars, flutes... Whatever.

It's been too long since I updated this. I'm going to collaborate everything out of Digital Structures, and try to find sample clips for as much of it as I can.

But first... I know I've mentioned the wonderful Danish minimal act "Static Corn". It just so happens that Static Corn himself has signed up to be a shroomerite just recently, and I found some links to his works in his profile. So here it is! Complete files in all their glory/madness.

I've been slacking off, I know. But I honestly haven't found anything good enough to post... Until now! Finally the day has come! New Son Kite album dropped, as well as a remix EP. A DVD is soon to follow, and another EP in autumn.

So far:

Son Kite: On Air Remixes (Digital Structures 2004)

1. On air (original) MP3
2. On air (deedrah rmx) MP3
3. On air (lemon 8 rmx) MP3
4. On air (future past rmx) MP3
5. On air (midival punditz rmx) MP3
6. On air (ndsa rmx) MP3

And on to the actual album... Oh man, it's fucking wonderful. I love these guys. Going to catch them live two weeks from now! I must say that out of all the live sets I've been exposed to, these guys do it the best. They're magicians.

Son Kite: Colours Album (Digital Structures 2004)

1. Other side MP3
2. Focus MP3
3. On air MP3
4. Games and watch MP3
5. Let us be MP3
6. The stars within us MP3
7. Jukebox MP3
8. Made to move MP3
9. Colours MP3

God I've waited long for these. And there's still another EP and a fucking DVD on it's way, to go with the theme.

Now, excuse me while I go vomit in excitement.

Well if people like the Staticorn music they should check out www.musikplaneten.dk for more music from the Danish underground.

on the site there is much dance and other "crap" but there is also some very nice minimal and Psy-chill (Xanthipe)

This is a great thread. I have "found" many of the suggestions here and they are playing on my laptop recently.

I listen to bands like Krumelur , Static Corn, the whole scandinavian minimal scene seems to be very good. Can you recommend more bands like this?

I like also ambient electronics, I love most of Aphex Twin.

Has anyone heard Scorn? An ambient, minimal and experimental project by the ex-member of Napalm Death Mick Harris, if u like minimal techno with a "cold" feeling this seems to be as hard as it gets. "Gyral" is their best album.

I'm very glad you dig. Most psychonauts should and would, though.

Nice selection. Let's see what I can come up with...

Cujorius One
Gnome Effect
NASA
Promon
Rotor
Front Minimale
Comadura
Genetic Spin
Gome
Pulzyie
Xanthipe (Like previously suggested... Good stuff!)
Droidlock (Not really minimal, but still good)
Puttimutten
Filur
Insane Creation
Lurifilur
Thorin Bleef
Rotor

Can't think of much more at the moment.

Yeah man Scorn is sweet stuff. I've got an IDM/techno freak of a friend who adores it.

Actually all of those aren't by far krumelur/staticcorn-minimal... But what the hell, I'm drunk as usual, and got a little bit carried away.

Still, all very good stuff indeed.

Since this thread is, if not, entirely without 'hard' stuff... I figured I'd be a good sport and make a couple of picks, regardless of being the elitist scum that I am. So here goes!

Kindzadza: Waves From Outer Space (Parvati 2004)

1. Dusty ho MP3
2. Wild tales MP3
3. Beta galaxy MP3
4. Sin tron MP3
5. Nature grow MP3
6. Furiya kruchiya MP3
7. Mars bless u MP3
8. Romantik moments MP3
9. Lotaz dream MP3

V.A. Potatogun (Insomnia 2004)

1. Fungus Funk - Water world MP3
2. CPC - Fokusnic metuta MP3
3. Kraft - Technological MP3
4. Psykovsky - Inner disorder MP3
5. Kindzadza & Fungus Funk - Fish n chips MP3
6. Loa - Stalker's way MP3
7. Osom - Question of fa MP3
8. Kindzadza - Potatogun MP3
9. Parasense - Incredible machine MP3

There... That was almost as painful as I imagined it to be.

Two new long awaited albums just arrived in my mail box this morning:

Apparently this sweet Danish act has switched labels, their other releases are all on CreamCrop.

Genetic Spin: Backspin (Nervine 2004)

1. Birds MP3
2. Lord of the strings MP3
3. Flowmotion MP3
4. Aclon MP3
5. Local dadios MP3
6. Side FX MP3
7. Full onion MP3
8. Lord of the strings (Silicon Sound Rmx) MP3

You can check out other releases by Genetic Spin way back somewhere in this thread.

Swedish act "Atmos" had a striking release four years ago called "Headcleaner", that more or less made cult status.

Atmos: Headcleaner (Spiral Trax 2000)

1. Fill the hat
2. Average beverage
3. Sonic kipper
4. Cable enable
5. Jimmy the plate

Actually I'm fucking disappointed in the new Genetic Spin release. They've lost both style and touch.

It's not a bad album per se... Just not what I want from them.

Yeah its a shame with Genetic Spin their old sound was more cool.... we can hope these Full On years will be over soon so we can go back to basic groovy stuff again :-)

But there are still some very great acts in denmark who keeps it minimal and groovy...

check PSYLESS GROOVE... one of the best minimal/groovy bands in Denmark

Amen to that. I hope they'll still be releasing out of Creamcrop... If not, I bet my ass they've sold out to get some cash coming in, because their new sound is completely without character. Just the same shit we've been hearing over and over again.

Yes totally..! I can't believe I haven't even mentioned Psyless Groove in this thread. Good stuff.

By the way... Do you have any idea of when the Drone album is supposed to drop? I've been waiting for what has seemed like ages since they dropped *this* EP. Igneous Sauria doing remixes and stuff... It's going to be killer.

Drone: Drastic Plastic (Candyflip 2003)

1. Drastic plastic
2. Red whisper
3. Eye doll
4. Contagious (Igneous Sauria Rmx)

The album of this weekend was a damn easy pick, after this fucking masterpiece of a chillout album was brought to my attention by a certain Dane - Thanks Static!

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden (Ultimae 2003)

1. Central pains
2. Tensor
3. MOS 6581 (album version)
4. Silent running
5. Neurotransmitter
6. Hydroponic garden
7. Exosphere
8. Comsat
9. Epicentre
10. Artificial island
11. Refraction

Anyone, electronica fan or not, would be a fool not to check this one out. I'm deeply impressed.

Today?s suggestion is a ridiculously obvious one... First ever solo release by Sebastian Mullaert, known from Son Kite and Minilogue. It?s all very different, but top notch. Strangely enough out of Dragonfly... I have no idea why.

Kooler: Open (Dragonfly 2004)

1. In the heights
2. Solid kiss
3. Freefall
4. Harold and Maude
5. Open
6. Superstar
7. Awake
8. Life lift
9. Mango

Okay! It's been a while, and so on. So here we go. I've checked out pretty much everything on the Ultimae label after getting that sweet Carbon B. Lifeforms cut in my mailbox.

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden (Ultimae 2003)

1. Central pains
2. Tensor
3. MOS 6581 (album version)
4. Silent running
5. Neurotransmitter
6. Hydroponic garden
7. Exosphere
8. Comsat
9. Epicentre
10. Artificial island
11. Refraction

And I must say... That is one hell of an ambient label. So far an act called Aes Dana has really caught my attention, so I'll start with that. Think sweet ambient with a twist of progressive beats, and some solid vocals...

Aes Dana: Season 5 (Ultimae 2003)

1. Natti natti
2. Peripherics
3. Season 5
4. Undertow
5. Gatewick (Vinyl aiport delay)
6. Dew (Herbal version)
7. Chrysalis
8. Onset data
9. Forest fish
10. Suspended grounds

Might as well cover the rest of the acts on the label while I'm at it... There are some compilations too, but I have not heard them all yet.

Solar Fields: Blue Moon Station (Ultimae 2003)

1. Confusion illusion
2. Elevator sunshine girl
3. Cosmic dessert
4. Magic eye
5. Infection 268-7
6. Magnetic air
7. Majestic feeling
8. Blue moon station (Album version)
9. Planet zoo
10. Third time (A-version)
11. Swimming with the stones

Asura: Code Eternity (Ultimae 2000)

1. Like a summer day
2. Trinity
3. Simply blue
4. Phoenix
5. Code eternity
6. Territories part one
7. XP continuum

Here's a project by Solar Fields and Aes Dana together:

H.U.V.A. Network: Distances (Ultimae 2004)

1.  Distances
2. Access to the long fields
3. Rain geometries
4. Symmetric lives
5. Processing lights
6. Indigo room
7. Time circles
8. Overload (Putput mix)
9. Moon town
10. Morning call (Dawn Rmx)
11. Sunday barbecue with the neighbours

And a couple of classic albums from one of the earliest 'minimal' acts, to round it all off.

Shiva Chandra: Gecko (Spirit Zone 2001)

1. Acht achtel
2. BSB
3. Vierenkrach
4. Gecko
5. Torn cat
6. Karasu
7. Bali frogs
8. M.Y. Papatacci

Now this one is pretty nifty... It's a 2-disc edition, where the second disc is a video CD with about an hour of music videos. A rare thing indeed when it comes to this type of stuff.

Shiva Chandra: Subsonic (Spirit Zone 2003)

CD1(audio)
1. Splud
2. I never have
3. Loops
4. The rip FX
5. Turn about
6. Family
7. Alien reminder
8. Tinware
9. Modern acoustics

CD2(video)

1. Splud
2. The rip FX
3. Loops
4. I never have
5. Family
6. Tinware
7. Modern acoustics

:crazy2:

I?m a bit late with announcing this release, seeing as it?s been out for a month or something already.

...But it?s a fucking must have. You might remember my praise and predictions regarding a new label called Zenon and their first release...

Quote:

RunDMT said:
This is the best damn compilation, in my opinion, released 2003. Period.
The line up is outstanding, and you can tell it?s custom made because they all manage to maintain an outstanding feel to the whole thing.

Being the first album out of a brand new label, Zenon Records, this predicts a sweet future.

V.A. Eyes Rolling (Zenon 2003)
[/url]

1. Phat Kontrollerz - Flat control
2. Triplex - His problem child
3. Krumelur - Dunkia Motive
4. BigWigs - Vibrafon (Sensient remix)
5. Sensient - Vector Director
6. Mantik - Centauri Pasta
7. Mekanizm - Agitate
8. Sun Control Species - Proxima 5598
9. Praecox - Kizi mizi

Well I was right. Their next release is even better... My god does this rule! All I could ever wish for, explicitly made for and stuck onto a disc. Fiercly intelligent and innovative production.

V.A. Permutations (Zenon 2004)

1. Kent - Bush Too
2. Sun Control Species - From within to without
3. Cujorius One - Gelfling gaggle
4. Sensient - Ballistic
5. Legohead vs. Sensient - Modus operandi
6. Krumelur - You decide
7. Praecox - Noye Frizur
8. FREq - Incense tree
9. Moses - Dehydrated

If you?ve liked the kind of stuff I?ve been reviewing in this thread, this album is most definitely for you.
The track by Krumelur is completely insane. And I am NOT one to complain about acts like Praecox, out of Bigwigs. :crazy2:

This one's not yet been released, so I don't know what to expect really. I'm just quite excited as it is the first release out of Crotus Records (except for a 12" EP by Bassid) since my favorite album, Krumelur's "Minimal Animal" back in 2002. And with Comadose, it just can not go wrong. I'll be ordering this one as soon as it drops, mark my word people.

V.A. Plan.Plant.Planet. (Crotus 2004)

1. Comadose - Blaster
2. Comadose vs. Beatz - Scifi funk
3. Comadose - Tallerkenrul
4. Comadose - Spitz
5. Comadose vs. Bobby - Bred ymer
6. Bena Riamba - BC
7. Bena Riamba - Rumballs
8. Bena Riamba - Vel orbob
9. Beatz - Jamilla

More coming up soon!

Since we all got set back a few posts, I'm just re-notifying whoever is interested that Plan.Plant.Planet was a fuuucking masterpiece! God bless Crotus.
I'd also like to put my take on Enginewitty back up, since that was lost too...

Forget about the hideous cover for a second here folks. This is one ridiculously good album.

V.A. Enginewitty (Cosmic Conspiracy 2004)

1. Diwata - Bansuri
2. Ozone - Get Air
3.Weetbix - Flyzeyes
4. Alfredo Garcia - Planetensprengung
5.  Anakoluth - Daswan dwar
6. SMO - Synthtom
7. Duendo Matka - Fred Flintstoned
8. SMO - Betrayal
9. Dr Molekule - English voodoo
10.Eric the Viking & Odo - I can't believe it's not Buddha

I didn't recognize any of the artists apart from SMO at first glanse, but of course that just appealed all the more to me. But there were some familiar acts involved, like Alfredo Garcia being 42nd Thought, and SMO out of Meelo.
The tracks are new and very fresh in style, but they all follow a specific path which makes it one of those discs you just need to experience from end to end, over and over again.
It goes from grinding progressive to twisted minimal and rounds it all off nicely with some tribalistic downbeat.

I predict a very sweet future from Cosmic Conspiracy. No label has tickled my senses like this since Crotus. And with an upcoming second release just around the corner, I am literally aroused.

Now for something entirely different. Japanese act Charm, or K.U.R.O, has switched labels. The new firm is fairly newborn, and called "Psyristor". Thought I'd cover their releases as to this date.
It's all right between progressive and techno, with some psy influences. Pretty hard stuff with low key elements, making it sort of minimal, just not dowbeat. It reminds me of MidiMiliz and The Delta, but being Japanese and all... It's optimized for efficiency.

Charm - Pathfinder (Psyristor 2003)

1. Retrospective
2. Parallux
3. Inside man
4. Emanations
5. Prime factors
6. State of flux
7. Learning curve
8. Metabollic

K.U.R.O. - Satisfaction (Psyristor 2004)

1. Bush beat
2. Dervish mind
3. Anion
4. Self control
5. Blast
6. Frozen bug
7. Next wave
8. Lifeforce
9. The man who fell to earth

And the most recent release, the label's first V.A. The Charm vs. Jin tracks are particularly interesting, pounding the crap out of your adrenaline, real stompers!

V.A. Destructive Inspection Phase 1 (Psyristor 2004)

1. Linac - Methane hydrate
2. Charm vs. Jin - Keep it
3. Perfect rainbow - Cosmic cross
4. K.U.R.O. - Atomic fission
5. Monoclonal - Polarization
6. Charm - Method 1
7. Monoclonal - 10000bq
8. Charm vs. Jin - Turning point
9. Charm - Bipolar electrode

This should be highly interesting to whoever enjoys stuff like Headroom, MidiMiliz, The Delta... Even some X.Dream.

After years of silence, and then suddenly dropping that blissfully sweet minimalistic wonder, Plan.Plant.Planet, Danish Crotus Records suddenly gets up and spits out yet another compilation, within virtually no time at all!
This time not quite from the same minimalistic stand point, but equally qualitative listening. And god, they sure managed to gather the cream of the crop for this one. This will work on any floor, but also on the home stereo. A must-have, atleast for me.

V.A. Soundscapes Part 1 (Crotus 2004)

1. Moses - Trukket i lyden
2. Navajo vs. Tribalistic Society - Atmosphere
3. Genetic Spin - Swordfish
4. Meeloo - Arctic rush
5. Sensient - Zoltan
6. Comadose - The history of marihuana
7. Praecox - Harmonire kunst
8. Sensient - Inhuman
9. Amygdala - Getting blurred

Talk about a big boy's line up eh?

Another new compilation worth mentioning is the new realease from Sub.Machine. Deep grooving progressive, out of nowhere. Mostly made up from unreleased side-project material, but also with some established names. And a few new surprises!

V.A. Day Time (Sub.Machine 2004)

1. La Baaz - Scrool
2. Motion - Interference
3. Antix & Dsens - Reflect
4. Clutch - Fat future
5. Fiction - What's your name
6. Fusi & Johnson - Stullen lude
7. Phony Orphants - Petanque
8. Side-A - Subliminal

And now for something entirely different... I just had the good fortune of receiving a few audiovisual DVDs, which were all far from a regrettable purchase. Just what I needed in cold times like these.

As you may or may not remember, Son Kite's "Colours" release was supposed to consists of 4 items. The Colours album, On Air remixes, Colours remixes and a double DVD.

The DVDs are packed with goodies, for the hardcore fan, and for the apprentice fan.
-91 minutes live performance with double angles: live concert footage on one, and live visual arts on the other angle.
-documentary "return ticket to new york - a day at work".
-on the road footage "dropping down on a few continents"
-interview before and after the Halloween live concert.
-music videos of "On Air", "Jukebox" and "The Stars Within Us".

Son Kite - Live in Tokyo - DVD (Digital Structures 2004)

The next DVD I popped into my player was a greatly anticipated one. Downbeat, chill, ambient. What ever you'd like to call it. This is a collaboration of upstanding audiologue acts, and cutting edge visual artistery. I managed to get some samples of the videos/tracks from the label site, I pray they don't mind.

V.A. Visitation - DVD (Ceiba 2003)

1. Kode IV - Skyspirit (02mx)
2. Sanskara Dub - Spiritual Travel
3. Cybervixen - Harmonia
4. David Battenfield - Sonic Ghazal
5. Pridon - Mira/Birth after death
6. Tom van Draft - Breakfast jam
7. Shakatura - Mirror mere
8. Kode IV - Fallbliss

Next release I enjoyed was a collaboration between oldschool artist "Mr. Peculiar", and 3D designer "The Shapeshifter" - Syncrosect. The fruits of 6 years of work. It's good to know that Mr.P is still in business, and definitely worth checking out. As for style it's psytrance, no more, no less.

Syncrosect - Syncrosect - DVD (Syncrosect 2004)

1. Incredible actions
2. Herbal hour
3. Jedi of psy
4. Frontal reversal
5. Emerging light
6. De-psypher (downtempo VJ mix)

Last but definitely not least is the disc I have playing right now in my livingroom. A magnificent and hypnotic downbeat work by Spot, or Scott Draves. It consists of 4 parts: Dub, Visuals, Electric Sheep and Bomb, each with it's own explanatory documentary.
Again I managed to dig up some video clips from the label, and again I pray they do not mind.

Spot - Spotworks - DVD (Spotworks 2004)

1. Black dub
2. White dub
3. 2x2 mix
4. Arabs dub
5. Dub visuals
6. Best of 2002
7. Death & rain
8. Believeth
9. Sheepumentary
10. Understand
11. Inside the bomb

That's all folks! It's been highly entertaining and interesting. And god knows these puppies would make for awesome projector visuals at any event.:thumbup:

Yeah yeah, there's been a lot of shit for one day. But I had to complete the brilliant series with the last piece of the puzzle.

Son Kite - Colours Remixes (Digital Structures 2004)

1. Colours (Luke Chable Rmx)
2. Let us be (Vibrasphere Rmx)
3. Focus (Nos Rmx)
4. The stars within us (Dino Psaras Rmx)
5. Let us be (Aztech Rmx)
6. Focus (Shiloh Rmx)

And that concludes our epic masterpiece. Further more, the Vibrasphere remix of the sweet track 'Let us be' is pure gold.

Time for a closer look on the classic act Deviant Species, out of the UK!
Santos De Castro, Paul Konrad Wright, and Andy Connor from Scorb.
They're known world-wide for their relentlessly pounding dark tunes.
So, starting from the very beginning, five years ago.

Deviant Species: Hatch (Zerotonin 2000)

1. Psyclops
2. Bilboan trance (album mix)
3. Jughead (album mix)
4. Cloud breaker (new AYM rmx)
5. AYM (album mix)
6. Intruder (album mix)
7. The eel

One year later, this absolute classic came out on Ambivalent.

Deviant Species: The Quest for Balojax (Ambivalent 2001)

1. Balojax
2. Druidic endeavours
3. The forge
4. Carrier (balojaxial mix)
5. Spiritual beings in fluoro shirts
6. Locust
7. Geb the cackler
8. I squid

Quite some time passed, and a lot of sets were played.
And now, they're right back at it. And the outcome is most certainly pleasing.

Deviant Species: In the Hands of the Randomizer (Ambivalent 2004)

1. Voice of thard
2. Pincushion man
3. Shellless
4. Thermal boundaries
5. The retinal circus
6. In the hands of the randomizer
7. A night TT dismember
8. Portal to balojax
9. The entrapment of John Dory
