i cant sleep...its driving me crazy, any suggestions??

normally i lay down and cant stop thinking, and it keeps me awake, then last night and tonight i fell asleep around 10:30-11:00 but i woke back up like two hours later and couldnt go back to sleep, like now i woke up about an hour ago and i cant go back to sleep...i think its cuz i cant stop thinking...but when i do go to sleep i dont understand why i always wake back up :frown:

does anybody else go thru this?? or have any suggestions on things to try and help me sleep?? itd be much appreciated, id love to sleep at night and wake up in the day like everybody else.

work harder during the day. exercise more. do enough stuff that when you lay down, you're knocked the fuck out. that'll ensure a good night's rest. also, smoking a bowl helps me.

there are obviously a lot of things you are thinking about. If they are of things in your life, resolve them.

3 years ago when I had this problem really bad (rarely nowadays) I would first go through things that had happened today, then yesterday, and so on. Then random thoughts would pop into my head leading to further sporadic thoughts. If this is what is happening moreso than the other, try working on breathing patterns and make sure to breathe through your stomach.


If you go to a doctor for this they will give you a sleep aid to reset your sleep schedule and hopefully, temporarily, this will calm your mind allowing you to sleep easier

I have the same problem. My recommendations are as follows:

1. Prescription drugs. There's lots of them that act in many different ways, ask yo doctor about it.
2. Simply sleep/Unisom/Benadryl... Anything with Diphenhydramine in it. 50-75mg usually does the trick
3. Alcohol. Notice this is last on the list, not the best idea for solving sleep problems.

Edit: None of that natural stuff has ever helped me. I exercise and still have the problem. I try the breathing/meditation thing and that just makes my mind race even more.

demius- yea that is my problem...im doing my best to resolve what i can but there are things i cant change and i kno i shouldnt worry about them but i cant help it, they just pop up. and since ive been havin to stay sober things that i havent thought about for years are coming back, things i had forgot about...they are all just poppin up into my thoughts and fukking my sleep up. im prescribed to klonopins but my doc only gives me .5's and they dont last me the whole month, ive been trying to get 1's and hopefully this comming month i will get them...but im half afraid i wont. but they help me sleep for sure.
im going to try the meditating thing

gumby- alcohol puts me to sleep but i can never sleep long i always wake up not long after i go to sleep. im out of my script. ill try some of those sleep aids mentioned. somethings gotta give.

itd be soooo nice if i could just smoke a bowl

I had this problem and was diagnosed as a bipolar...meds are a great thing, I currently take Lunesta and it typically knocks me out. If you're not all for the drug arena, look at your diet sometimes that can cause issues too, it helps me to stay away from caffine and any sort of cold food, for some reason the cold food keeps me awake. Hope you find this useful!

alot of my friends and family say they think im bi-polar...but im not so sure, i just think i get irratable easy and have really bad mood swings lol not so sure im bi-polar...i guess the mood swings are pretty dramatic, actually they r dramatic, how do u know or find out if u are. i just have seen quite a few ppl who are bi-polar and their mood swings seem much more intense than mine. i dont know much about being bi-polar, or what exactly it makes u act like though.

and im all about the drug arena! lol i just cant currently do any.

Me either. Seriously the only way I can get to sleep most nights is with meds. Such is the life of an insomniac. I've been a diagnosed insomniac since I was about 12. Thing is, if I don't get sleep my other health problems flare up hardcore. It's a shitty cycle, but whatevs.

I just took my flexeril, I should be out soon.

However, I did just have a thought. I noticed that I got really depressed and irritable during the winter time(which is spent in New Jersey). I had kinda doubted the existence of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) until I moved up there. Now that it's warm enough to go outside with out 50 bajillion layers of clothes on, I've noticed that I sleep better. A day in the sun will make me sleep like a baby. And give me a very bad sunburn if I don't put on sun screen :P

yea my meds normally put me out, but ive never been diagnosed with insomnia, but then again ya know i really dont go to the doctor that much, and when i do i never talk about sleep disorders....i dont know why. i guess i should, the doc is just to damn exspensive for me to go tell him about it and then him tell me it will pass or something.

flexoral(sp) is some good shit and solma's. my back is really tensed up it always has been since i was little, i have nothing but knots all over and one of my friends went for massage therapy and she couldnt even work them out because of how big they are. maybe i should talk to my doc about that too.

i never heard of SAD but i believe it cuz im always unhappy in the winter time. i hate the cold. im in pa right now, its where i grew up...but i consider s.c. my home i love it there it still gets pretty cold in the winter though. i lived in florida too now i love that weather but i get in too much trouble down there.

You might want to read up on a condition called fibromyalgia. It tends to be more common in women and it causes problems with muscles.

masturbation right before is a bad idea because it raises the heart rate and gets your blood flowing nice and good.  Sex is a workout, masturbation is less of a workout then sex, but it will sure keep ya up a bit longer then if you jerked off an hr before you tried to sleep.
