Psilocybe Baeocystis lookalike and Ps.Australiana!

This strange psilocybe was found in an area where I have never found psilocybes before and resembles Ps.Baeocystis macroscopically - not sure what it is - look at those gills being so adnexed - possibly Ps.Tasmaniana/weird Subearuginosa??



And here are some classic Ps.Australiana - better pics soon - these babies resemble Ps.Subaeruginosa, but with light orange coloured caps, veil remnants along the cap margins and no brown blotches apparent along the stem. Microscopically these mushrooms have lageniform, hyaline pleurocystidia exactly like Ps.Australiana, but may also have cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia or other shapes as well. The jury is still out on this id - in many ways they resemble classic Subaeruginosa


And finally some wavy-capped aussie natives growing in my garden next to that nasty red mushroom!

Nice pics, We havent had rain for like a week so all our mushies have dried up. But for some strange reason they are still hell potient, I whatched 2 of my friends have bad trips of a few large mushrooms. Blake(Pretty tuff fella) who had the most, was crying and asking me to get him out of it, I assured him that it was all part oif tripping and it was all in his head, after about 3 hrs he came out of the room that he was tripping in and I was expecting him to bash me or somfin for freaking him out instead he shook my hand raved on how intense his trip was and how he saw the new light .
3 other friends on seperate occasions have had intense bad trips off the same shrooms, I havent been game to try them yet.

Hi Blue meanie, Just a little like baeocystis except the gills are to far out in the edge of the caps and it is missing the nipple common on large baeocystis shrooms. Probably a freak subaeruginosa or as you suggested a tasmaniana or eucalypta.

Also they become straw coloed in drying and the pokeats are bot as definate as in baeocysttis. thus as I mentioned above the edges pf the caps show thick gills and baeos are thin.

Remember that those features are a distinct epsonality and feature in the genera Psilocybe. Thats why many resemble other species. Howevrer your climate is different thant he PNW but similar habitats and similar weather conditions make it macroscopically similar but that is all.

It also kinda resembles a short P. caerulescens.
