There are numerous posts about this shroom. I even posted pages from paul Stamets book PSilocybine Mushrooms of the World.

P. strictipes is a mushroom similar to p. semilanceata and has nothing to do with Psilocybe baeocystis as written by me, Ott, Lincoff, Menser, sStamets and others who all folloed Rolf Singers identification of this mushroom in the late 1960s which was first picked up for the shroom user by Leonard Enos in his psilocybe mushroom field guide, the first published for finding shrooms with water colored imagtes. HE based his id on the fact that singer said it was like baeocystis.

A few shrooms here still pick baeos and refer to them as P. strictipes. you would have to look for the post on this matter. It is here and it has been mentioned, as I noted above, on many ocassions.

Unforthunately I have the worst of luck in finding things in the search engines.

Dear MJSHROOMER---

I did not find much of anything in the post search. Is strictipes found fruiting in the Pacific Northwest these days? In Stamets it says it is very similar to lib caps and p. peliculosa.

Probably about ten or more liberty caps in 100 are either P. stictipes or P. sierrae (=P. subfimetaria). They macroscopically resemble liberty caps and grow in and around them. The same way one cow piere can sometimes have two varieties of Copelandia in them.

Is it at all common to find P. strictipes in grassy location other than cow fields, such as yards? :tripping:

My book lists them as growing in rich areas such as lawns. I would expect to find them in cow fields, manured lawns or freshly laid sod.

They are pretty rare in lawns in the city.

I think last year Cardboard found a lawn of liberties and blue ringers, But its haerd to say unless you put them under the microscope and get a spore count.

Oh by the way have you ever heard of cyans showing up in grass? In Seattle I found a cluster of mushrooms that belonged to the genus psilocybe ( they blued, had a light purple spore print, a pellicule that could be speprated from the cap ). They were growing in a well maintained lawn. They had dark carmel caps and a wavy margin. They were hygrophanous. I didn't eat them so I don't know if they were potent or weak. I don't think they were stuntzii.

Yes Soft Rat,
Cyans do appear in grass, usually along the edges of the mulch beds outwards as much as ten feet or near bye.

However in Oregon I photographed a fairy ring around a tree and another in a laqwn where apparently they laid sod over the mulched garden.

HEre is a few simple small images. These will eventually be on my new site as I change about 1000 ophotos and add another thousand new bettrer full size images.

These two lawns are in Astoria, Oregon

These next three images are from Seattle.

and one more for the shroomer
