Re: What happens to the people IT kills? [Re: Lakefingers]
    #6755447 -

This thread brought me some aversion when it first popped up....... why would someone invoke such negative ideas?

But it got me to realizing that I have never fully integrated my shadow, and that IT is the shadow...... the shadow can be formless as a sense of generalized fear and anxiety towards and about things, stemmed in fear of mortality or perhaps simple ego-loss.... it can also be rationalized and demonized by the ego mind as a figure, policemen, the government, illuminati, simple phobias...... a fluffy white rabbit [poor Little Albert :frown: ]

and IT controls the ego by priming this set of reactions deep in the mind or deep in the emotional centers...

what happens to the people IT kills ? Then becomes a question of "what happens to those who are consumed by fear, who never conquer some sort of phobia that is severely limiting their lives?" the people with PTSD, with panic attacks.... or someone on a bad trip.

the fear of hell, of a vengeful God... of complete annihilation which not a single shred of consciousness will survive......

"the frightening terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we are going in this ocean of chaos...."

there are ways of killing IT though, mantra, religious faith, pure bravery, rational thinking(?) .........

it would be nice if society didn't throw so many ITs at us, sarz, y2k, etc, etc, etc... and just let us fucking live instead of amping us up on high alert and then deferring the fear to a boogeyman that consensus reality says to be real.

All of our words are "cut and pasted". Do you think anyone thinks on their own? I can guarantee you though, that I cut and pasted them from my mind on the fly and not from some source on the net.

Habituality--the state of being that is "held together" by habit.

(Here) habituality is symbolic order, because it is the seemingly whole symbolic world lived that seems flawless until an IT pops up between the cracks of habit and demonstrates everything is patched together.

You didn't get the "habituality" part, but the rest made sense... I doubt that. Either one has an intuitive or academic understanding of what I wrote, or else it's just nonsense. Of course, nonsense is often given meaning, take the pharse "commercial sex worker" for instance.

Of course I don't think anyone thinks on their own. All ideas are old ideas recycled and restated to fit into the contemporary setting of that time. Cut and pasted, if you notice, when you actually type something, it goes from one end to another. When you cut and paste, the sentences are cut and shortened...as your original post. I really don't give a damn where you got it...my original point is that its cut and pasted, only that and nothing more.

No, the rest did make sense... you used the word Habituality... the root word is habit... which don't mean anything remotely close to symbolic meaning or order. My questioning is why you chose that word. The rest made sense cuz you used the words Habitual ideologies, which agrees with the original meaning of the root word.

"either someone has an intuitive or academic understanding of what you wrote". Intuition or academia is NOT either/or. There is room for views other than your own.

The impression I got from the movie (because I won't sit through 2000 pages of Stephen Kings wordy vomit he calls literature (keep in mind that the book had a whole chapter about part of a turtles toe)) was that IT absorbed them and that they are eternally tormented. With all of IT's rhetoric about floating and deadlights, IT gave me the impression that he was collecting souls and that they remained concious as if in a personal hell.

Heh heh, exactly

About the eternal torment you brought up: that's kinda what I was thinking and that's what I was hoping someone would talk about.

But, again, Lakefingers: your posts really intrigued me

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Lakefingers, did you know we are talking about a book? IT by Stephen King to be exact. If you knew this, then I ask you: how in the hell does Platonic thought have anything to do with IT. I guess that you could squeeze something out of Plato's facsimile of the line, but thats just a wild stretch. I'm really interested in your response. Seriously, please respond!

Lakefingers, i am glad you answered rationally. i think i came off a bit strong. i definitely do not want to come of as an asshole.

anyway, could you please explain to me how you perceive IT to be the antithesis of platonic thought? i was fairly certain that the idea of the book/movie did not go this deep. i am really not arguing for the sake of arguing. i've read a little plato and i just don't see how you came to that conclusion. i'm not going to assume you are wrong about this, i just don't understand your claim.
