It's not off.

I use Starry Night 5, and the Sun does indeed cross the Galactic Meridian precisely at Sunrise as viewed from South America on 12.21.2012.

This is the end of the great ASTRONOMICAL cycle.

Hardly anyone knows this, but there is a total solar eclipse over the SW US every thousand years or so.
The next one is going to be directly over the Hopi lands just before Sunset on 5.20.2012. True story.

Didn't the Hopi have something in their prophecies about an eclipse?
