Santa Claus
    #6650323 -

The concept of Santa Claus amazes me: mass deception of infants. What does it say about the human race that we delude our young in such an incredibly ridiculous way.? I mean, look at the guy. What's wrong with the parents just giving the presents to the children themselves, without the premise of leaving stockings out for a magic man to fill. Literally, a huge proportion of the world's children believe in a lie. They live that lie, and they love it. If they've been made to believe in Santa, then imagine what the rest of us are believing :drooling: (God and stuff I guess)

Well I don't know, I think an immeasurably valuable lesson is taught by those perpetuating the Santa myth. When I found out the truth I realized that not only can you not trust those whom you should be able to trust above all (excluding yourself), but I also discovered what we refer to as harsh reality; that dreary place where there magic doesn't exist.

No, it's not like I cursed my parents or anything, I've never really cared about it..but it is somewhat interesting considering the effects it has on the child's psyche.

How do you KNOW Santa isn't real? Have you ever been to the North Pole? Eh? Where's your evidence, buddy

Exactly. I find it interesting that we delude all infants. Im not antiSanta or a Santa-nazi or anything. Im sure it has positive effects. Its just a bit strange when you think about it sometimes.

the moral of the story is: just because it is a widely held belief makes it no more ture than anything else.

The concept of Jesus amazes me: mass deception of infants and adults. What does it say about the human race that we delude our young, and ourselves in such an incredibly ridiculous way.? I mean, look at the guy. What's wrong with the everyone just loving and appreciating each other, and not fucking themselves over, without the premise of being punished by eternal torture. Literally, a huge proportion of the world's peoples believe in a lie. They live that lie, and they love it. If they've been made to believe in Jesus, then imagine what the rest of us are believing :drooling:

but seriously, it's a tradition thing.  by going through the rituals (and they are indeed ancient rituals, when considering everything associated with santa / christmas / presents under a tree / decorating a tree / etc.) it makes people feel like they are still connected to their ancestors or something.

I remember how much I was into Christmas when I was a kid and how much I looked forward to waking up to see what Santa had left. When I found out that Santa wasn't real I was so disappointed and I completely lost interest in Christmas. Not sure if the whole Santa thing is good or bad in the long run for children.
