I tried it with the PF classic strain. I did 6 jars of BRF, 5 of MF, and 1 of 1:1 millet/BRF. All jars finished at the same time, or within a 12 hour period of each other. Millet jars gave the mycellium a more yellowish color, and millet cakes seemed to pull away from the sides of the jar more. once birthed the millet cakes fuzzed up like nothing I have ever seen before, and the BRF did their normal thing. Mushrooms off of all cakes seemed to be mutated (I had the syringe from about the time that fanaticus announced the failure/disentigration of the PF classic strain). So it was a good experiment, but unfotunately an uncontrolled factor ruined the experiment. But as for colonization speed, same as BRF.

I have rye/millet flours mixed and incubating now. Don't know about fruiting, but they're colonizing just fine.

I tried millet flour it wasn't that good.
You have to play with the water ratio to get it right.

Yep, my millet is yellow - got it from the health food store. I wondered about adding some flax seed meal, since I have some on-hand. Bought some to try Ryche's recipe - those are incubating, too. My rye came from Harris Teeter, and it's actually a light brown. Pretty sure it doesn't say "dark" anywhere on the package. I'll add the dark version to my shopping list too.
