UFOs, Prophet Yahweh, and the JREF

Remember those 'Amazing' videos of Prophet Yahweh calling down UFOs on command that circulated here a few months back and that so many people gave creadance to before Yahweh was exposed as a liar?

Well, he's applied to the James Randi Educational Foundation for the Million Dollar Challenge. Read his hilarious exchange with the JREF as they iron out the exact details of the test protocol.

A false prophet has recently surfaced on the internet, he goes by the name of Prophet Yahweh.
His claims include the ability to summon UFO's on commande, and he appears to do just that.  What he is doing is nothing more than a parlor trick.

It is fake.  Prophet Yahweh has a confederate posted about a mile away.  The confederate releases a mylar balloon, or, rarely, a colored one, filled with helium.  Yahweh times it so that the balloon is released as he prays using a beeper or other digital communication device.  Then, when he is finished praying, Yahweh starts looking for the balloon in the sky.  It takes a few minutes, and then the balloon appears high in the sky.  Sightings last until the balloon reachest a height at which the air pressure outside is low enough to pop the balloon.  Then the sighting is over.  At times the prevailing winds of the upper atmosphere appear to propel "the craft" in a realistic fashion.

[Diploid: Notice his surprise in the video when the baloon comes back as it traverses the various strata of winds aloft. Pilots get a forecast of winds aloft at 3000 foot intervals during their pre-flight and navigation preparations. This is because winds aloft can, and often do, change speed and direction with altitude.]

It is easy to make allegations against someone like this, after all he claims to do the impossible, but I have also come across proof that this is nothing more than a charade.  After seeing his original abc interview with the sheepish field reporter, I decided to see for myself how easily a weather balloon could be confused for a flying object.
I used google image search to find "weather balloon." However, too many grounded, upclose pictures came back.  Then I searched for "weather balloon UFO", I was floored.  Staring right back at me was a picture of Prophet Yahweh holding a handful of weather balloon.

A few things that we know about Prophet Yahweh....
*He likes to help african american children.
*He owns several domain names, some relating to israeli interests.
*He knows a lot about computers

The domain name of the above link is computerclubhouse, a technology based group that helps under-priveledged (african american) girls.  There is no doubt in my mind that this is our false prophet.  He first came out public with his gift in 1997, we see this from a dated press release (similar to the one released recently)

If you also notice, the picture of him holding the handful of weather balloons was taken in 1997.  Prophet Yahweh did the youth initiative program, developed an interest in weather balloons in early 97', and low and behold we have a press-realease stating his "abilities" in late 97'.

[Diploid: Also from the press release linked above where he tries to get someone to buy him a camcorder: "my camera is broke, and I need a new one; this time, hopefully a Sony digital camcorder". Well, I'll say one thing for him, he's got good taste in electronics.]

It is clear Prophet Yahweh is only interested in scamming the public.

Hehe, quite interesting :lol:

I would have loved to see the two 'spaceships' (not UFOs) over Las Vegas. I think Randi threw that away too fast, because the 'security-issues' could have been cleared. Randi himself sais 'safety-first'.
If he is a trickster, then he is a good one, because he tricksed the authorities to title him 'mentaly ill' :lol:
And I think, he added the 'spaceship' insted of the UFO, after he thought out his withdrawel.
But if Randi is clever, he continues the test. As someone said in the threads there, he could sit in a safe tower in Vegas and watch the space-ship like in independance day

So, this was supposed to be the week Prophet Yahweh was to take the James Randi Educational Foundation Million Dollar Challenge. Yahweh claimed he "would call down a UFO over Las Vegas that would be unmistakably alien and would hover over the city for several days".

Near the end of the negotiations of the exact challenge protocol, just when it seemed the test would go forward, Yahweh insisted that a contingent of his 'armed security guards' be present at the test.

When Randi heard that Yahweh intended to have guns at the test, he immediately canceled the test. <no shit!>

In the interest of complete fairness, the JREF offered to reinstate the test according to the negotiated protocol so long as Yahweh gave his assurance that his people would not bring any fire arms to the public park (which expressly forbids fire arms) where the test was to take place.

Yahweh, replied with a rant and refusal to give assurances that his people will not be armed. JREF had no choice but to cancel his application.

This is what Randi calls an 'escape hatch'. Applicants to the test frequently build this as the protocol negotiations proceed. The intent is to allow the applicant to avoid being tested while accusing the JREF of reneging on the challenge.

Expert from the JREF response:

Firstly, Kramer didn't cancel the test without consulting the boss. Randi was made aware of the applicant's suggestion that guns be present, and that was all she wrote. I agreed, and then I did my job.

I then canceled the test as per Randi's instructions, but then I followed up by giving the applicant the opportunity to state for the record that no persons with firearms would be present, and that the decision to cancel the test would be reversed if the JREF received said assurance. Read the thread, people.

The applicant then responded with a rant and a lecture. Hence, no test.

The most astounding thing about this entire sad affair, to me anyway, is the position held by some forum members that allowing a mentally ill black supremacist dishonorably discharged ex-con who preaches the violent demise of the white race show up to a Challenge test with his own "armed security" force is an OK thing to agree to, or that it's even remotely acceptable for Randi himself to be anywhere near such an environment.

Is seeing a Challenge test take place really more vital than avoiding a potential bloodbath?

The JREF was wrong in encouraging this applicant's delusions in the first place, and the buck stops right here on that point. In an blindly passionate effort to have a test take place at TAM4, I neglected the human aspect of this, and convinced myself that it was OK to let this fellow make a fool of himself.

I was Wrong. And so are the forum members who still feel as I did before the mention of firearms opened my eyes. This test is not worth the risk. No test is.

People should think a bit more critically about the real-life ramifications of this potential tragedy before passing judgment on the JREF and its decision to avoid it at all costs.

Let the woo-woo's complain.

The JREF will have no part in any test at which there is even the slightest possibility that someone will get killed, regardless of how remote that possibility is deemed to be.

Safety First.

FYI: Las Vegas is currently hosting a gaggle of geeks for the Consumer Electronics Show convention and there isn't a UFO in sight (unless you count the Sanyo blimp).
