I've decided to build my new comp. I've got about everything on Newegg.com. Anyone do any buisness with them ? Is there anything I'm missing ?

All nice, only thing I would change...If you are wanting a fast computer, is the 7200 rpm harddrive.  I would another harddrive along with the one you have chosen.  The other one would be smaller and 10000rpm :smile:.  But, nice nonetheless.  And, yes, I have done business with newegg.

personally, i'd go for far more disk space. something like 500GB RAID5. guess it depends on where your priorities are.

Yeah, don't get the X2 go for an opteron dual core.
You might need a different mobo for the opteron. GET THE OPTERON!!! DO IT!!! They have more cache and are just a fraction more in cost. Also they have better Quality control.


get 2 harddrives instead of just having one.

Put your operating system on the fastest HD and also your programs. get a small 40 gig or something. Use the larger drive for storage.

Ditch the ATI card, look in the Nvida Cards 7800GTX.

Ditch the XMS and get regular value ram unless you are really concerned about tight ram timings and overclocking. If you want to overclock get the best ram you can possibly get. 2gigs should be enough. Those 1 gig sticks will leave you room for expansion.

Also its not about the wattage of the PSU, its all about the Amps on the 12V rail. Thats what you need to be concerned about if you want to OC and such and have a stable system. Look for something like 30A. Check out Pc Power and Cooling, i think thats it for PSU. They are a bit expensive though, but will give you enough juice. Don't skimp on the PSU, if it fries, everything could go with it. I peresonallly use a tagen 480W PSU. ANd i am running true SMP overclocked.
