You should give credit where credit is due and put Albert Einstein's name after the quote at the bottom of your sig. Without quotation marks and an indication of the author, you give the impression that you yourself authored the quote.

Since science is organized around rules, I'll be unscientific and ignore the rules for this thread.

There are many ways in which science has become as dogmatic as religion.  There is a tendency in modern science to assume atheism, materialism, and determinism to be true, and will adjust its theories to make the data fit those assumptions.  This is, of course, where I am breaking the rules, because I am accusing modern science of being unscientific.

Science is very powerful, especially when improperly used, like it is these days. People will not take a step backwards, they only move fowards. Fowards means combining science and ancestral knowledge.

You think you have created some kind of paradox?

The method of using logic to come to conclusions has far predated Science (the Scientific Method) aka empiricism.

Rationalism was the name given to this method.

A system of order to come to conclusions does not imply Science.

Here's a good one: Try Bashing Reason. The rule: Disparage and slam reason all you want, but you must present your bashings in such a way that is completely divorced from reason - defined as our faculty of concept-integration and formation.

Have to disagree with you.  I have met far more closed-minded people who claim to be New Age mystics.  They are not interested in exploring any further than the latest guru tells them to.

By contrast, many of the science- and reason-oriented people I know are actively exploring the possibility that there is more to the world than we can see.  The difference is, they continue to reserve judgment on things which cannot be proven.

It is just as closed-minded to say "it cannot be proven, therefore I will dogmatically believe it is true," as it is to say "it cannot be proven, therefore I will dogmatically believe it is untrue."

:shrug:  Personally, I prefer to work with the "best guess" method on things which cannot be proven.

Some of the biggest idiots i've ever had the pleasure of hearing talk were scientists at university and hard science students. Understanding the scientific method means you also understand its limitations. No, Mr.Scientist you are not the beacon of rationality, quite the opposite from what I've found. You are great at understanding the basic elements of the natural world. But when things get complicated, the scientific method is useless.

Science is worthless in philosophy and spiritually, its a dead end.

Science is a method of covering up untruth. It will always be directly related to the acquisition of money. Why else can people heal themselves, when they lose hope in the doctors who are supposedly helping? This is my experience...human experience...reality. How can you have faith in science when it is simply arguing with reality?

Scientists believe in this imaginary thing called disease, which can be "cured" with the right regimen of liver toxic drugs. Oh yea, and why are doctors rich? Perhaps it is because "health care" is the greatest scam ever created. Look at cancer, it is the disease of all diseases...there is no cure, we use radiation to kill the cancer and the patient. What a genius idea, science has triumphed. This great age of science and "progress" has brought about a lot of interesting ways to screw people over. This is the obvious failure of science, bringing about anything worthwhile. It sure makes people feel important though, and wastes all of our time.

Argumentative debate relies on the faculties of reasoning and logic; philosophy. Philosophy is a science, the sciences and liberal arts exclusive of medicine, law, and theology.

Either you are using science to argue your point, or you aren't using science and your point is immediately void of any merit due to the lack of rational, coherency, logic, and form.

The word science has two connotations. One being skill, and one being study of nature (empiricism). By the first connotation any skill of any kind can be classified as a science. For example: I have masturbation down to a science. Or sweeping a floor could be considered a science. Just like reasoning is a science. But not everything can be considered a science.

So can I have the definition of science as used in this thread?

Oh, and using a computer is no more using a device made by science than being alive is using a deivce made by biochemistry. Communication is communication whether you are carving it into wood with a rock or transmitting it through fiber-optics. Use of tools predates science and computers are just tools.

The only way for your ruse to work would be if you said something like "bash language systems without using symbols"

science is only the study of [----].

It was pattern cogntition and HUMAN CREATIVITY that created the tool of technology. Just like cave men experimented with hitting rocks together until sophisticated tools could be made.
