Ouch! My New Consciousness Fits Too Tight!

After a trip I notice that for days I experience feeling short tempered or mildly depressed. I also get an anxious feeling in my stomach like the principle just walked in and caught me! I can always tell that I'm learning stuff about myself (good and bad) that I either wasn't aware of, or that I forgot... but I can usually expect that my conscious awareness fits too tight. I also notice that I'm more out spoken-even louder than usual...not with a jerk attitude, just not concerned about what anybody thinks or if they agree or disagree with me.
After a couple of days, I start to feel pretty good about everything. I go about my life wondering what the next great (or small) insight will be... but for those couple of days... it's pretty uncomfortable. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping and that makes it worse.
I guess I'm just wondering... I'm I just having a hard time adjusting to my new "cosmic clothes"... Did I stop at that new store in the "Zone" and buy something I'm not used to wearing? Something that makes me uncomfortable? Or, I'm I finally switching back to my natural wardrobe and it feels tight since I turned in my "appropriate" uniform that "the man" gave me years ago as a kid?
I love truth... and I like answers... but honestly, the questions are more comfortable.
Seeing my good points and my bad ones is a little un-nerving. Then there's accountability... what? and to who? Sounds like I had a bad trip that
!!!zapped!!! me but there was nothing very negative about. Maybe its "surviver's guilt"...

How old are you and how many times have you tripped? I used to feel something similar after shroom trips when I first started out, but that feeling was replaced by a true sense of belonging and home after I gained more tripping experience.
I still have lots to learn!

Don't worry man, those jitters will go away after you gain a little more experience with psychedelics. I found that they went away after about 10 HEAVY trips (my first ten) , but I was older than you are now... so maybe I wasn't as jittery.
If you want to get rid of the jitters fast, here's My suggestion: Secure a safe (and comfortable!) set and setting. Then take a strong dose (read: heroic dose) and run with it. Just don't leave your comfort zone (if the dose is right, you probably won't be able to for a few hours anyways).

Thanks... I'm trying not to over do it... I'm pretty sensitive to stuff in genneral... last night I didn't sleep much at all... it was kind of like having 20 20 sec bad trips every time I fell asleep... Maybe I wanted a break from reality and ended up with a reality break... I'm ok...

people who have the most success with psychedelics, a reasonably dangerous form of self-psychotherapy, have usually gone through several ordinary forms of psychotherapy and have training in scientific philosophy.
if you're 15 years old, my recommendation is to concentrate on the prep-work necessary for Spiritual insight. make sure your getting enough exercise in all the facets of your mind: social, rational, and aesthetic - strong confidence in your every day ordinary experience will allow you to integrate the new consciousness into your personality without tension between the two.
take your time, you seem bright and honest with yourself about your predicament, you could very well be one of the few folks here who will ultimately find these drugs truly benificial.

Hey Tannis
"Afterglow of the experience will persist anywhere from few days to several weeks; what you've learned may change your life. Occasionally this learning will be negative and you'll be depressed for a while as you assimilate the fact that you've been wrong about something for all your life, but the depression is never extreme and - cheezy as it may sound - you will be a much better person afterwards. "
This was taken from the FAQ on this site. From my experiences, I occasionally feel a bit depressed, and withdrawn after taking shrooms; I have, however, felt the complete opposite, A feeling of excitement, a kind of ore about the experience, even happiness and complete contentment with life. I guess you should be prepared for either outcome no matter how experienced you become. :)

Thx for the advice. I'm a little afraid of high doses. I took a medium dose and it was great but haven't been sleeping much for four days...
Anyway...where do I find "heroic dose"? I don't know what I'm looking for...

Do you mean insights like when I saw the veins in my hand and thought "whoa! this is cool! then I thought "I haven't taken care of myself! I need to treat myself better! I'm a living work of art!" ???

Age has nothing to do with it. I am in my 30's and have experienced this and have dosed more times than I can remember. I think the person who said that those feelings are just a part of the deal is right. Sometimes it's ecstacy and other times it's a bit of a tough birth. It's like life. Anyone who at peace all the time is in denial of something just as anyone who is miserable all the time. It's the yin and yang baby. In great sorrow there is laughter, in great joy there are tears. Hang in there and don't forget to breathe.

Yeah - and additionally to upupup, I have actually found the negative come down from mushrooms can be a postive one too, because for me I can try and analyse what I am feeling unhappy about. Like, I have gone through some negative feelings and realised I wasnt happy in my job at the time, so i moved. But I guess if you are just feeling a bad sad, or depressed etc for no reason, you can just accept it is from the shrooms, and the feelings will pass in a few days....
