this is coming strait out of the Libbie's mouths, they even admit that this is what the Dem's have been doing. They have no identity and if they were to ever be true to themselves and act like Dem's they would of lost by a larger margin. I dislike the republicans acting like republicrates but I dislike Libbie's acting like conservatives worse. The liberals are their own worst enemy because they are fundamentally and philosophically flawed.

Evan Bayh is the democrats best chance. Give a reasonable Indiana boy a chance to dance.

For the republicans, McCain is going to be a fossil. Rice doesn't have kids, and I doubt I will ever vote for someone without Children. I think that Rudy will run and that people like him. I think it could all go to Colin Powell if he ever decided to throw in his hat. I would vote for him in a New York minute. He has always claimed he doesn't want to run, but that decision is up to him.

It would be glorious if in 2008 the Libertarian Party saw a good amount of votes come in for their party.

I think the new third party will win a landslide victory, lead there by our very own drtyfrnk - 2008 Presidential Candidate

I actually think that if the Democrats don't shape up within the next two or three presidential elections, then there may very well be a third party that rises to take their place, much like the Republicans replaced the defunct Whig Party.

Yes folks, it's true, I am running for president in 2008.

Please, vote for drtyfrnk, I'll get shit done.

Here is what should change:

1. Bush = banned to iraq where he wants his OIL war
2. Legalize sweet sweet Mary J
3. Ban Rummy to Iraq as well, why not?
4. Promote Trendal to Vice President
5. Put the shroomery in for congress
6. Declare Peace for everyone
7. Watch me take bong rips while doing my inauguration

Any more, please feel free to add them in.

Personally I doubt a third party will get any real support as long as the MSM is happy to only parade around two parties.

But that's exactly the point: one of those two parties is going down. The Democrats are losing all their credibility with the voters. Even with Bush doing as bad as he is, the Democrats still can't put up a viable opposition. I'm not predicting that there will be three major parties in the US. I'm saying that there will be two, but the Democrats may no longer be one of them. Of course, as I said, this may depend largely on how they do in the next couple presidential elections.

Oh ok, I see what you mean now. I suppose that is much more likely than actually obtaining a third major party...but I still think the MSM will continue to parade the Democrats around with the Republicans, no matter how bad either of them are doing.

The kind of thing I'm talking about has happened before. When Lincoln was elected as the first Republican president, he didn't run a third-party campaign. The Whig party had already become politically irrelevant, which is where the Democrats seem to be headed. I suspect that we may have a one-party state for a while before a third party rises to prominence. I think the Libertarians could eventually become a successful contender if they became a bit more moderate in their positions. They won't be able to do so as long as they remain "The Party of Principle."

Well the media was certainly not around in its current form back in Lincoln's time

I see your point, 100% though. It is possible.

I also think another possibility is for split within the Republican Party. There are still many in the party who are fed up with the religious right, and I could see them splitting off and forming their own party. I think one of the main things preventing them from doing so right now is the fear that such a division would strengthen the Democratic party. So only when the Democratic party goes the way of the dinosaurs would such a split take place.
