in 2012, when nothing actually happens, its gonna be great because then maybe people will stop fucking talking about it. but im sure they will then just come up with some other obligatory date to wait for. my vote is for 04/20/20

This has already happened (or not happened actually) many thousands of times. The believer response is typically the following:

1. Total silence - 42% of the time.

2. Mankind was not ready for the "transition" excuse - 34% of the time

3. The transition happened, but skeptics were of too dense a vibration to notice it - 24% of the time.

I'm reading some of daniel c. dennet's Cartesian Theatre of the Mind stuff.  Good stuff (though out of my depth).
