In other words a trained martial artist bested two untrained attackers using grappling techniques. Amazing.

They were not untrained. Thay were advanced students who were ordered to simply fight.

I have seen a 45 year old Akido master fling two determined attackers around like they were weaklings.

Only three fallacies in one statement:

1. (Anecdote: You have seen...) REAL Masters can ONLY perform in front of small crowds and not for serious money.

2. Determined attackers? What does that mean? How does that attest to skill level?

3. Strength has little to do with technique.

I regularly defeat "determined attackers" on the court, barely breaking a sweat in 15 minutes of play rather than 15 seconds. Power and aggression without skill is easy to defeat.

Your Master could easily take me down on the mat as I could take him down on the court. So what? Why can he NOT demonstrate those same skills in an arena against tried and true fighters rather than a couple of bumblers?

My brother knows an old martial artist who walks with a little cane. One day, he was surrounded by a dozen ~20 year old streetfighters with all sorts of weapons. He beat the living shit out of all of them, and when the police came they told him to be more gentle, as more than a few were very hurt :/

You just don't fuck with some people, regardless of whether or not you think they have chi

These stories fill the halls of dojos and they are all bullshit. The story you told never happened.

I was in a private setting. I have seen the same guy break concrete blocks and thick oak boards. This guy is an instructor for a living and he does perform occasionally for public enjoyment. His primary profession is fire cheif of a small department.

"who's the picture of in your avatar?"
It is me...but it is five years old.

If I were swami I would point out how he completely ignored my post, which explained to him where his thinking went wrong.

But I'm not so I'll let it go.

I regularly play the world's best 70+ racquetball player as he trains at my club. He is tough and well-built (for any age!) as he does cardio and weights almost every day. As good as he is, I win 90% of my games against him though I have to play nearly my best to do so. Hard to compete against relative youth at high skill levels.

In summation folks:

1. Chi can ONLY be developed if you call your sport a martial art.

2. One must have an Asian teacher somewhere in the lineage.

3. It must be learned IN CONJUNCTION with normal physical training.

4. I best be careful as Hue might visit me this fall (for real) and may kick my ass to prove a point!

"chi" means inner strength so actually a great deal is needed when one enters the cage.Just not the peaceful kind, instead the insane killer kind.

I thought it might be his son. The guy in the picture looks laid back, casual, mellow and relaxed. Typically when Hue posts, he's intense in a stance with both barrels loaded

If it's him, it's nice to see that casual side.

Fedor Emelianenko!

I only know of him from two videos that no other than Skorpivo sent me, but man, that guy is fucking nuts! He seems to have quite the Zen aspect to him. :mushroom2:

It was also amazing to see him get dropped on his neck by that black guy in a manner that would have killed lesser men, and not only that, but then to turn around and win...

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :satansmoking:
Peace. :mushroom2:

I'd love to see how some of youse "chi-practioners" out there do against an MMA-combatant like, say Kevin Randleman [the black guy that Fireworks mentions above]:

Good luck!

For those of you not in the know, Fedor Emelianenko [a Russian] is the heavyweight world champion of PRIDE FC, the biggest league of MMA there is, hosted in Japan.
He has brutally beat and manhandled everybody in the heavywieght division like an emotionless machine - hence his nickname "The Terminator".

Fedor Emelianenko

If you want to see some fancy kung-fu, dazzling moves and such theatrics, don't watch the video. But if you want to see how it's REALLY done, by all means, view at your own pleasure.

And another good example of what Swami is talking about goes to "Tank" Abbot. Tank was one of the pioneers of the MMA sport, back when it was just style vs style.
One of the things that made Tank famous, was that he was brutally KTFO'ing all these "martial art experts", while all he did was go into the cage with pure, raw aggresion, wild swings and brutal knockouts.

Sure showed the world what was bullshit and what wasn't. I like to call him the "Swami of the Octagon".

Tank:
