Hey, I'm a big fan of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the book and the movie. I'm just wondering if there's any other movies out there worth seeing that are nearly as drug involved as that movie was.

Any other movies where pyschedelics or heavy drugs are the center idea (that isnt Requiem for a Dream) ?

renegade - some weird movie from the wild west times where the native americans use crazy psychadelic drugs to show a white guy the meaning of life and shit. Its a constant fucked up trip. Its a relatively new movie, as in at least the last 10 years, if not sooner. blockbuster has it.

Easy Rider. very thought provoking. its about two guys in the 60s who have just made lots of money off a coke deal, they buy some bikes and set out to find freedom. lots of drugs in it.

There's always Altered States. I didn't really liek that movie though- the premise was that every psychedellic user's greatest goal is to have the experience materialize physically- basically, he became a caveman after dosing Fly Agaric in a sensory deprivation tank. Has a pretty crazy trip sequence though.

Damn, anything animated. This might sound a bit off the wall, but i really enjoyed "All Dogs Go to Heavan" while i was tripping, dont ask me how we ended up watching that one, but it was crazy.

Cheech & Chong: Up in Smoke (classic...)
Orig. Charlie and the Choc. Factory (psychadelic movie for sure)

I personally think Apocalypse Now: Redux is another good one.

If you're looking for something like requiem try Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo aka We Children from Bahnhof Zoo.It's in German... good luck finding it though. pretty similar to Requiem. Not sure if it was mentioned but dazed and confused i guess could fit in to this category.

ok i dont think people realize how great of a script harold and kumar is. ive seen it quite a few times but friday night was the first time i smoked and watched it. they were a few parts of the movie where i just yelled out WHO!?! WHO?! WROTE THIS?, its an all around fun movie to watch, off the top of my head i cant think of any parts that were kinda dull. and kal penn is a great actor.

anyway i think pink floyd the wall goes without saying
but trainspotting is awesome, spun was a good movie (poorly, poorly marketed tho) theres so many more

Dark City is a really tripped out movie,
Naked Lunch, it was said on the first page but this is like the craziest movie ive ever seen, ITS A MUST!
Barbarella is also very trippy.
If you can get it Alien Dreamtime with Terrence Mckenna is good.
Also The Felix the Cat Movie is pretty good if youre into some really demented tripping.
Altered States, which has also been said before but i thought id mention its based on a real guy named John Lilly, though obviously not everything that happens in it was real.
Ive never seen it but Apparently the Philadelphia experiment is Really Really trippy.
And In the mouth of Madness is a good one but keep in mind its a horror. Maybe not so great for Psychdelics.
Existense is also really good its kinda like the matrix but it came out before. Not sure about the spelling of that one

I ended up watchin the hitchikers guide last time i tripped with a couple friends and it was probly the best movie ive ever watched while high. one of my buddies laid down thru the entire movie even and just listened to it, apparently a good experience for him also. as already mention easy rider is one of the best.

How high is about drugs as well and pretty funny.
Les Ma?tres du Temps a french film drawn as well by Moebius is strange and sometimes trippy. I don`t just know if there is an English version. Probably not.
Another one is Fantastic Planet.
I might know more but I cannot remember them right now.

Harvard Man....not really the best story line, but the main character eats a bunch of acid and spends about half the movie wandering around tripping...its neat

really i think the movie was just an excuse for the director to make a film about his acid trip when he was younger or something

Human Traffic is a brilliant film, set in Wales a few years ago but it's about the British clubbing scene in general. People who have never done E probably won't get this film at all. I know i didnt the first time i watched it, i thought it sucked, then i watched it a year or two later after some heavy nights pilling and raving and laughed my bollocks off, it was like "shit i know exactly what they're talking about now!!"

Other than that i'd say Harold and Kumar, How High, and Friday are some of the best stoner films i've seen. Cant think of anything else :confused:

Where The Buffalo Roam , it's another movie on Hunter S. Thompson made way before Fear&Loathing. Its just as good as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas if not better. Well F&L is definately more 'tripped out'.

Dope Sick Love if you're into documentaries. Bongwater is a really good movie I picked up out of the cheap DVD bin at some store in the mall. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else and I don't think many people know about it. It has a lot of (real) weed and some other drugs as well as some famous people. (Brittany Murphy, Andy Dick, Jack Black, Luke Wilson)

What about Roger Corman's The Trip, Jack Nicholson wrote the script!

The whole film is Peter Fonda tripping on LSD - some bits visualised, some he just relates to his sitter.

Oh and there's a scene where Dennis Hopper says the word "man" about 50 times within a single sentence.

2001 is the ultimate trip movie - play the last section with Floyd's Echoes - wow!

Jesus'Son is a great movie i just saw it agian on HBO. They do alot of heroin and speed, also he is tripping in some parts of the movie. has good actors to, jack black, billy crudup and samantha morton.

I second that, has a great cameo from Howard Marks explaining "joint etiquette", he stands over guys like a ghost not there commenting on the tactics people use to make sure they are next in line for a joint being passed.

Guy caught wanking by his mother is priceless too!

It was given out free with a sunday newspaper where I am recently, couldnt believe it

Twin Town is a welsh comedy with a few drug references in it, including shrooms

Training Day is a good drug drama.

Almost Famous should be mentioned more than once in this thread.

Dude wheres my car, is surprisingly stoner funny.

Young Guns is a western with emelio estevez and charlie sheen they trip peyote in it, and its about billy the kid, not really drug related but cool none the less.
