trich and casings
    #4401151 - 07/13/05 08:53 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

i have two casings that today i found contam'ed with trich. The thing is, they have prolly been contam'ed for several days but have been pinning and the pins have been growing the whole time. so, 1 will the pins mature, and 2 if they do are they safe to eat? plus, why is it that casings get hit with trich so often?

if its trich, and they do pin, they should be fine to eat so long as there isnt any trich on the shroom itself.

Agreed, the fruits are safe to eat, but the green is ruining your growing areas. I'd suggest taking it outside to a shady spot in your yard or garden to finish up.

A mushroom is like a tree, if you dump gasoline around the tree, but not actually on the tree, the tree is still going to die. The mycellium network is spread throughout the entire casing, mushrooms take nutrients from all over, if there's trich anywhere I wouldn't trust it...
