The hay day of the rave
    #4327919 - 06/23/05 11:36 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was real into the east coast rave scene (or what was left of it)around the very end of the 90's up until 2002. I remember it being around the time when raves took hold of the media as being drug clubs...and everyone was up in arms to an extent against them.

I also remember when I was a part of it, everyone always said "yeah you missed the good ol days..in the early 90's" and "the vibes definatly dead"

any fellow former even future ravers have any input on the movement.

Ill say that I went to one part this year and I was really saddened and dissapointed. Everyone was so elitist, it just seemed like a gathering of people who wanted to out "old school" eachother, and/or take way toooo many drugs
then again my experience is mainly of philly this year

I started in 97... Not to sound HUnter-esque... but that was just AFTER the crest of the wave... when cops started cracking down and more and more ppl were into it just for the drugs. I started on the east coast as well.

I think the pinnacle of rave for the east coast at least was the FALL of Fever. There's a club in Baltimore that people from 100's of miles away would flock to in the early 90's. Thursday night was FEVER, Sundays was an all ages party called Sunday mass.... They got raided in 96 and LOTS of people went down. This was the fall of the scene in Baltimore. This is when Buzz started ungoing mass scrutiny, when Ultraworld started attracting almost 10,000 people to their parties in DC which was when I started noticing people using drugs WAY to irresponsibly. By the time I hopped aboard in 97... Every other party I went to in Baltimore was shut down by the cops.

Raves aren't totally dead. They never will be dead the same way PUNK is not dead.

yeah, I never expect or expected the rave scene to totally die out.
I do remember a lot irresponsible drug use when I did attend raves in the late 90's but it seems like in a lot of ways its the irresponsible drug use thats been continuing the raves on east coast. althought I saw it then. the last party was exponential in comparison to how I remember it being.

Ive been hearing about the midwest and it seems that they've had an ability to remain les jaded then whats become of it over hear....that could also just be me being jaded myself
