Yes psytrance is hard to produce, and yes it is one of the more mindful approaches to electronic music, but there is some bullshit out there.

For example greystealth said Infected mushroom & Astral Projection, the early infected mushroom is great, the new stuff is shit, and astral projection just sound bland(the stuff i have)

I've got my own music project going at the moment, and the main problem is getting your own unique sound & style.
Maybe you should broaden your sounds and listen to some other electronic, i suggest chris clark & alter ego.

its all personal taste, a lot of the people that i have had listen to some psytrance say that it just sounds like normal techno, its just the same shit over and over again, where as for me i love it and can really get into a decent psytrance tune/mix.

That last festival looks like a good time.
What/where was that?

I think over the years of raving, I went from jam packed, sweaty raves where everyone was rolling balls. That was back then.

Now, I would only go to a cool party like the one posted above-although dirt/sand is my enemy. There are immature ravers, and then there are cool people.

i listen to lots, progressive, ambient, dark, twisted, twilight, dub, dnb, breaks etc

you just gotta be listening to the right shit, not that main stream full-on 'psy' crap

but dont get me wrong, there a still plenty of amazing psy-full on producers out there.

yeah infected mushrooms new emo rock band angle sucks.

i kinda like Astral projection's old stuff like free tibet, and mahadeva. i really am a Goa head at heart. i remember being 14 and buying the Clubber's Guide to Goa in a cd store in the mall and my friends were always like "whoa wtf is this trippy ass music!?"

i have been working on a track recently, its my first psytrance track so its a work in progress, and far from finished.
check it out:

this is the type of psytrance i am trying to produce: DARK AND TWISTED!!

The first party I went to was at the state palace. Some of the best ones I had been to were there as well.Did it close before katrina or after?I know the year or two before the hurricane someone was always saying it was going to shutdown.I think they were suppose to make the state palace theater into a historical site or something.

I live in hawaii now and there are not to many large parties.A mainstream one every once in awhile but no psytrance parties.I finally got in with the raver crowd over here and there seems to be a lot of underground stuff.Seems like every weekend there is a party on the beach or in the jungle.

where is "out here"?

there are a lot of places with psy scenes. In the US if you cant find one in your state there is probably one a few hours drive away. places you would least expect it, like Iowa and North Carolina have an awesome psytrance scene. its just a lot of scenes are close knit, so you have to know where to look and who to ask.

I love raves, but I havent been to a rave for the rave yet. The only rave like events I have been to have been Coachella and the mars volta new years eve thing.

I have wanted to go to a rave for a couple years. I just can't bring myself to fork over a 40 dollar cover as well as money for drugs, to go listen to trance that probably won't even be that good.

I love good psytrance. Most artists can produce at least 1-2 tracks that are worth listening to. Infected mushroom is my top choice for multiple album artist.

I would love to hit up an outdoor hippie rave. I do the glowstick thing, and I can put on a pretty good show. Gimme a pair of sticks on strings and I'll become a human music visualizer for the masses, a whirling blob of chaotic colored lines, fully synchronized to the psychedelic signals from the dj.

i love poi and have since moved on (though its still my favorite medium) from glow sticks to fire poi. i hate getting light shows. HATE. i do love watching a kindred spirit on the dance floor completely into their dancing, maybe just dancing with lights though. pretty much light shows, but with out the lights up in your face. i feel that people really feel the dance that way. and nothing fancy, maybe a pair of green or orange glowsticks, or a pair of photons, none of that each finger has a diferent color, some pulsate and in each hand i have 2 light orbs that make a lot of noise and i can only do a figure eight bullshit.

yeah thats Liquid Pop eric, the master himself! that footage is MAD old. i had the VHS "Liquid pop Collective's guide to liquiding and digits" but i lost it. most of their segments that video are up on youtube. he and the LPC crew basically pioneered liquid pop as a dance form. they have all since gone their seperate ways but they are still dancing.

I didn't go to that party, but I've been to that venue.  It's pretty sick!  I got poison ivy there, though. :crankey:
