I used to go to these parties all the time...I would have called myself a raver before I had seen what a raver really is..

Yeah, seriously. I think E deluded me into thinking kandi and raves were the coolest thing ever...now I realize that many of the people who go there are fake and just escaping reality.

Sometimes I want to escape reality too, but can't stand the fakeness/immaturity of the typical crowd. Thanks for posting

I'm a bit of a raver, but not a "candy raver" or whatever the fuck.
No armbands or glowsticks.

Just some acid and psytrance, and chilled out people.
Its more like entering into another reality/dimension, than escaping this one, expansion :smile:

i prefer psytrance with a good dose of mushrooms.  nothing puts me into more of a trance like state than that :thumbup:

Most raves around here you've got 3 main categories of people.

Candy ravers, of which a few go over the top and end up in the corner/outside/toilet feeling pretty dodgy.

Older ravers, most of the old school hippy types, who enjoy a good rave, they come in two flavours, drugged up & sober, usually all enjoying a smoking and chilling out having a chat & drinking.

Then the more sedate younger people, usually come for the music & the other "sedates". Usually on acid/mushrooms.
Thats what i have noticed anyway.
Check out tribeoffrog.co.uk, one of the more active party setups.

I wouldn't call myself a raver, but I do go to raves occasionally. There's one next weekend and I'm pretty stoked for it...it's been a year since I did E and it's going to be sweet.

never been to rave. also haven't done e. first time on acid me and about 5 friends who were also tripping listened to techno music and swung glowsticks around. does that count lol?

I'm not a raver.

But I have been to 2 psytrance festivals and I can say that I had some of the most fun I've ever had in my life in those 2 weekends.

Its extremely cool on mdma(e), you really connect with people, and you get all these weird dejavu's with people, like youve met each other before.

On acid its pretty... just very twisted and mad, but extremely fun at the same time, like going to a mad alien circus with a scientist mixing these sounds to make strange music that sucks you away.

I've been going to raves fairly regularly for like 2-3 years...does that make me a raver?

I never really got into the whole kandi business. Even rolling I feel foolish with brightly colored plastic beads covering my arms. Just not for me I guess.

There's not really many good psytrance events around where I live, but I think I would be able to get into those a bit more easily. I'm not a real big fan of most psytrance music, but the crowds seem a lot more my style.

There are definitely ravers that I love and respect, and ravers that are just drugged up little kiddies trying to get away for the night/week/life. I usually don't do drugs when I go to raves anymore. Occasionally I'll eat some E if a lot of my friends are at a party, or if I show up and the music just absolutely sucks (What did the raver say after all the drugs wore off? This music sucks!). I mostly go now to see friends, listen to music, and occasionally meet a few cool new cats.

boom festival seems too out in the open for me, i like to have trees, trails, beaches, variety and variety when i go to a festival... boom is just one big open space... although it would be awesome either way

I rave. i guess u could call me a raver. not a kandi kid, however. i'm a lightshowist...:crazy2: Been melting faces for 3 years now, haha! And i'm not the etard type, i'll take mdma on occasion but i have just as much fun going sober or drunk as i do rolling.

it's all about the good vibes, meeting new friends, and tripping people's faces off with beautifully patterned photons!! :rockon:

...on another note, any so-cal ravers should go to Gingersnaps this friday, it's gonna be a smaller more-personal downtown LA party with guaranteed good vibes. i'll give u a wicked lightshow if u'd like as well... :laugh:

Late 90's raves were really fun here in Atlanta, and smaller events into the 2000's. Now there aren't any raves, well not like they were anyway. The whole Goa style parties and people were more interesting to me, there was a big hippie crowd too that was fun, and the intelligent/atmospheric side of the Drum and Bass crowd was great too. Outerlimits threw great parties, like wonderland, and RITM at the trade center was the shit. Lots of good times at the Nike Pavilion and The Warehouse too, and the Tabernacle for a while, especially when they used to open the whole venue up, you would get lost for hours in that place. Truly good times, as long as you go easy with the drugs, lots of dumb people went to far in that direction, and caused problems, which eventually led to the demise of the scene here in Atlanta. Psychedelics are great, and E is ok in moderation, Cannabis ++, but anything beyond that is really just stupid and harmful. Now for me its just Drum circles, Bars, and House parties for the most part, and an occasional concert when good bands play here.
