The only thing holding me back is that I'm not really muscular at all and I can't dance (never tried) and I'm pretty shy. I dunno if I should just go one day cause it'll be by myself my friends aren't into any of that. I'm in Toronto so it'd be like an indoor drum and bass rave.
i don't think you have to be muscular to have a good time

I dont know what to say........
I do know how to joke around though.
- I really dont like the majority of the "audible" music found in some of these videos.
- I think some of it is absolute garbage.
- I think a few of the videos here were really cool especially the loud, deep forest, chill zones I saw.
- I think most of the music is bullshit even if it hits my ears like butter. (meaning I like it somehow and it seems to me like this is more about community than good music, and thats very cool).
- Most people who go to these raves would eat up any bullshit electronic music. YET Some people here seem to have really specific tastes and thats cool and shows the wide range of "get fucked up and party" music. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Sort of kidding but sort of not. The joke was that I spoke my mind without giving a shit.
Some of that music was cool. What seems to be coolest about these gatherings is the community, because I cant see any other way that such crappy music could attract so many fucking people.
The music, the dance, the crowd absorbing everything.
You too can dance to good music made by actual musicians.
I could tweak the levels on some crazy machinery my whole life and call my self a musician after my first few year of making music to dance to.
Most of this music just seems void of emotion except the crowd its self. They make the music matter, so thats neat as can be.
To me this is all some sort of metaphor.
The music sucks because it is hollow, but the people are not and they make the music come alive.
Its all about oneness............ So dont get me wrong.
Much respect!

eh.. theres musicians everywhere in every genre, theres tons of respectable musicians certainly in the rave/trance scene, though there are musicians just in it for the money. and your right a lot of these gatherings is just for the community, lots of chill people can be found. i must say though some of the music is just plain stupid.

Can you imagine if squarepusher(jazz musician) became anything but squarepusher.
Man, wed have missed out on a lot if he had decided to tweak tracks live for the rest of his life.
Ya, most of these guys are musicians(can play musical instruments). No doubt.
Most probably know the keys more than anything.
I just think its an interesting crowd vs artist dynamic.
Fucking cool if you ask me.
The crowd rules the venue, not the artist. Thats how I feel anyways.
Its so much a give and take. Yet in these massive get-togethers, The real substance actually starts with the audience, rather than the artist.
Same give and take, but the axiom of such fun is opposite of lets say a rock concert.
The music just seems secondary for the most part. I say this also because I know a lot of people who go to these(what I would call) parties.
Looks like a bunch of fun, and I really dont even like the music.
It seems intense, meaningful, wonderful, and colorful. I still dont like the music, but I most certainly do see why this type of music is the host for all these people.
The idea that the crowd makes the music come alive is really cool. I dont see life in that music, but I do see how its about nothing personal, is void of emotion, and is inherently cool because its not supposed to be those things.
Its a multicolored ornament that represents other worlds very well. Unspeakable, caveman like, and pretty damn cool if you ask me(even though I dont listen to that stuff).

personally i see all music as "alive". music is about vibrations, and that applies to electronica as well. whether or not it sounds good is up to the listener. i think it most definitely has emotion as well, it's also a vehicle to take you down a path.
the music also dictates the crowd.

There is always a relationship between the crowd and the artist.
All music is "alive" and inherently emotional.
I think this music is a clean slate. Thats all. I mean, im a huge fan of phish, but their approach to the unspeakable is far more interesting and organic in my world.
I prefer the unspeakable to be spoken by organic musicians. Not the computers they so easily learned how to tweak about with.
I guess Im just a purist in that way.
Im a jazz musician and listen to almost only jazz and old school funk these days. The occasional PANTERA, NIN, or skinny puppy. NIN being one hell of a trip pre whatever the hell came after the amazing album called the downward spiral(lots of decent stuff I will probably never find the time to listen to).
I have alot of respect for some of these purely electronic live musicians.
I dont dig that pump up the intensity shit vs verse chorus verse pixilated drum based cluster fuck of not meaning anything.
I like art.
I dont like most rave music even though I know what its alien name really is.
Intense music that kicks you primordial balls/innards into high gear for the sake of rocking you like a baby having a dance-edelic seizure It does what its supposed to. It knows what it is.
I dont need human emotion in my music. I need alien emotion, the truest of all.
I see that in some of this electronic music, and in some of the fans.

I don't much care for rave music. Psytrance is definitely way better than most shit at most raves.
I do like electronic music like Four Tet, though. Great stuff.

lol jazz and nin... quite a variation there.
yeah i was talking about psy/goa mostly. i feel it is organic in the most fundamental sense, because it mainly consist of repetitive beats, which bring you into a trance, hence the term.
