magikgrl said: I too was a lil raver girl. Introduced young into the Detroit rave scene at about 14. I'm 25 now. When I was intoduced into the "scene" I got to pretty much experience the tail end of the era and was grateful and awed to witness what we had before it was destroyed.
I say that because the "raves" nowaday's are NOTHING in comparison on ANY level.
I got to see Richie Hawtin's legenday Control parties, parties in the Packard Plant, Chop House, Masonic Temple, under the Ambassador bridge was a great spot. One night the police arrived to check everything out, they ended up turning on the lights and bobbing they're heads standing beside their patrol cars. Totally digging it. This was before the Patriot Act. Now you'll get your head smashed in if the Detroit Vice squad shows. Expect to be thrown on the ground with a rifle in your neck. Car towed, tickets handed out. I'm not kidding. To get an idea how Detroit did back in the day, a few old heads came up with this website. http://onlyndetroit.com/html/rave/rave.htm
Now I still goto clubs and some afterhours, but I'm much more careful, as things have changed drastically around the city.
Side note: When I first started going to raves, I didn't do anything but smoke weed. The people I went with were very good friends who had rolled before but since I was so young, they kept me away from it and that allowed me to appreciate the music and the party atmosphere without beign fucked up. Hell I didn't even take my first pill til I was 22. I wouldn't have it any other way.
someone should put together a national rave flyer archive.

everyone got jaded with the scene =/, I think that's why parties aren't how they once were.

the DC, Baltimore, WV, MD, PA scene is pretty hopping. This is my first year really attending shows. Before that I went to 1 a year and had a long break for a while. But now that I know when and where to look, I see that it's alive and well.

We have something like that, legal and illegal parties are on it, not the flyers. It's been up for years, works really well.

I have recently started to go to raves and camp out festivals....
In the past 8 months I have slowly become more and more interested in electronic music in general, funny how ones taste in music evolves and changes over time....A few months ago my friends buddy was throwing a "rave-ish" dance party in a warehouse....It was a small venue, 100-175 heads or so, intimate setting, very chill (but oh so crazy at the same time), everyone was down to earth. Needless to say this did it for me....
I have since been to a few other "raves" and 3 day outdoor events up in the mountains. I much rather go to the outdoor events than spend a night indoors. Nothing like being way up in the middle of the mountains surrounded by trees and having the stars above you while the music thumps. I find that i meet a lot more cool chill people at the camp outs, and you get to chill with em' for 3 days...
I mainly dig Dubstep, DnB, Breakbeat, trance, psy-trance sorta stuff...
Fortunately i live in northern California and there seems to be a camp out or something going on damn near every weekend...Last event i went to was Stilldream, it was easily one of the funnest weekends of my life>>>>

Looks like a lot of fun. Never been to an outdoor event, nor a 3day event. Though Camp Bisco kinda seems like a 3day rave b/c of the lineup. A lot of electronic @ camp bisco this year. Fuckin jumpin outta my skin here I'm so excited.

Don't plan on sleeping, the music never stops the entire weekend. All day, night, and morning long.....

I agree with-magicgrl- on this one I started going and promoting these parties in the late 80's early 90's in Cleveland...We had some great Raves however I wouldn't consider myself a Raver I prefered to ride my Skateboard at the Time..However These early Raves were when XTC was first being introduced to society and somehow we always had piles of good molly (GOVERNMENT) but ANYWAY I would agree the original scene was not what it is today I still spin records (mainly DnB some jungle)Also know alot of the popular DJ's but would much rather do anything besides go to a Rave nowadays to many candy kids and people trying to trip you out with glowsticks...If I wanted glowsticks in my face I would hand em to my friend and tell-em to wave em around Duh..I hate when people do this to me at a Rave...My theories are that Raves were created by the government as a sort of underground exctasy testing sort of like the acid tests...now all you got is a bunch of pipes pressed into a shitty pill...I could go on I'll stop now I'm sure The scene is still fun for alot of people!! I still love raver girls;)...e

Well, to talk about the rolls for a second. Sure there are always bad ones going around, but if you know the right people you don't have to worry about that. I haven't taken a shitty roll in a LONG time.

Just some acid and psytrance, and chilled out people. Its more like entering into another reality/dimension, than escaping this one, expansion
This is me.

And that looks like one hell of a time....Looks just like the camp out festivals that i go to, but in Australia (Right?) instead.
I wanna go!...Do the events take place over the entire weekend or are they just one night?
