If you add the dung directly to your substrate (verm/BRF/doo), then you can innoculate via the PF tek method and case 50/50 just like the Cubensis. (Use a thin casing layer.) This has always worked for me, and I feel is a sure-fire method for Copelandia beginners.

Damn, this the first reply I've seen from you BJ in, it seems like, a year. Glad you are still participating. BJ is right. His method works quite well. Dioze1

>>1. Is that big bag at the top the cow poo? Yes it is :-) >>2. Where does one buy cow poo in a bag at a local store in the United States? I don't know i never bought cow poo in the United States. I guess a garden center would have it. >>3. Instead of using jars for the spawn have you successfully tried innoculating the bags of compost and have them fully colonize, then empty them into a fruiting chamber? Inoculating directly with a spore syringe? Somehow spores germinate very slowly on dung and straw. It would probably work but will take ages. >>4. Do Panaeolus species require a casing layer like soil no matter what, or will they still fruit just using the compost without a casing layer? Literature says it does, but i doubt it as in nature mushrooms grow directly on dung. >>5. In comparison with P. Cubensis, how would you summarize the total harvest size? (I'm trying to find out if this would be valuable to cultivate or just something to do for personal entertainment) (?) Well yields are ofcourse smaller than those from cubies. The potency however is said to be 3 times stronger, so even a yield of 1/3 would result in the same amount of active compounds. Comparing this with the yield of cubensis on the same amount of substrate i think the will yield similar amounts of active compounds, maybe the Pans are even a little higher.

Hello!!!!! I've always been here, though I currently have some wild hairs in my arse. (The rain here in the PNW gets me too excited.) Actually, I just want to see more friends of the community succeed with this species. The experience is unparalelled by Cubensis, and just as easy to fruit. If you can successfully case Cubensis, then you will succeed with Copelandias.
