I agree with you. I understand you needs a ban, and I also understand it was not up to the mods what punishment he got.

last time hanky got banned, he did it on purpose. He wanted a 30 day break, getting banned was his way of keeping himself away...

it shouldn't count as a regular ban vis-a-vis his permaban status...

this permaban action shows the futility and ultimate unfairness of three-strikes-and-you're-out type rules...

I move for a change of shroomery rules, that a one month ban should be the maximum punishment for the offense of posting inappropriate or offensive content. Repeated offenses should incur a one month ban, but never a permaban...

can i get a second on that?

also, you really should consider re-writing the banning policy to make permabans only for those who threaten safety or security of the site or its members. mild to moderate rules violators, even repeat offenders should work their way up to a month long ban and that should be the cap.

I mean, people will get the message if they lose posting for a whole month, and if they don't, that doesn't matter either, because we'll only see them once a month. :shrug:

I dont think a simple set of rules will cover ever instance of a banning offense. I think it should be up to the admin to consider such instances as they arise and make a decision based on the user's general post history. Using maybe a rough guideline to work out the severity of the punishment.

one of the first reasonable things said, but I think more than a post history should play a part, some people have plenty of posts but seem to care little about the community and are willing to give nothing back

I've never used tripping or being intoxicated as an excuse, I've dealt with cops
while on LSD on several occasions and managed to stay out of jail, I'm always
aware of what I do when I' tripping including on very large doses.

wow, now thats closed minded, this board has a more lienient policy on bans than
many, try going to forums.somethingawful.com and post, tell them you're drunk
and watch how quick you get banned, most boards have a 1 strike policy when it
comes to rule violations, they figure if you arent going to act like an adult
then they'll be rid of you until you can grow up.
