I know that many cultures have been using psychoactives for thousands of years as an entrance to mystic experience. Shamans & whole groups of people get together & use these experiences. I do believe that drug abuse is a problem and not because it isn't socially acceptable. Some drugs are bad for you & without moderation (which can be difficult with physical addiction & psychological dependence). I don't think drug use is abnormal.

Both have risks known to those that engage in them.

Both have the potential to be life threatening.

Both are for risk takers.

Meth isn't taken for it's consequences... you don't have a tweeker going on and on about how he's smoking meth to kill his heart, nor to shrink his dick.

Likewise, you don't hear a skydiver talking about how he hopes that one of these days on one of their dives that they hope their parachute doesn't open.

To say the least, it's done for the effect that is generally given through it's use...

Poor analogy... when was the last time you were warned about the dangers of jogging?

When a drug is illegal the profit's triple. The same people who make billions a year in the drug trade lobby to make them illegal. Prohibition is a scam, the governement doesn't do it for our safety. That bullshit

You can inhale gas fumes and get fucked up, it will kill your brain but you can do it legally. On the other hand you can't grow a plant in your back yard and have a totally safe and happy high. It makes no sense

What we need is less laws and more education about drugs. As it is right now people just lump the drugs together. THere are the illegal ones and the legal ones. Dualistic thinking takes over and automatically the illegal ones are demonized. Even though the difference between pot and crack is huge, a 'normal' person won't know the difference.

The war on drugs is just another control and money making mechanism.

Interesting point, but I was following up on the comparison of meth to skydiving, not the thought process of the user. Yet, you're taking one thing and calling it another - its not exercise, its just another way to get high, its not a hobby, its just natural occuring drug use.

Dangers of jogging are as low as they are of you walking on a sidewalk. There's a danger in existing, period, yet you dont see people walking around in helmets and body gear do you?

Why should it matter what one does for recreation? If it pleases them, let them do it regardless of the detriment.

As you said, theirs danger in existing... then why are you so concerned with other's potentially ending their existance through their own pleasure?

Why is not using ethneogens a hobby? It's a hobby to be a connoisseur of fine wine, and tobacco. Both do one thing to you as an end result. Even if it is just naturally occuring drug use why exactly is that an issue? As it stands, it being illegal isn't helping with the situation, it's only exacerbating the issue on so many levels, one of the primary being from what I've seen is through defiance, and self-assertion of individuality through rebelling against authority.

Jogging could be dangerous as well, depends where you are :grin:. Generally it isn't comparable in terms of the risks.

The terms "drug use" usually is meant to describe the use of illegal or the illegal use of psychotropic drugs...not your granny eating an asprin or even alcohol use. By that definition most people are NOT drug users. I don't know about meth being like skydiving....but acid while skydiving is definitely cool.

Jogging is in between running and walking... so to are it's effects in terms of burning calories, among other things...

The point I'm getting at is that as much as a stress it actually is on the body... we're designed to endure it, we're built for stress on our bodies, look at all the haphazard situations humans place themselves in.

separately I like psycheldellic
separately I have enjoyed stimulant ( meth, coke)but I never reccommend that.
