Holy shit my parents (mother) said the exact same thing as the last sentence. You know what I did .. I laughed in her fucking face. And guess what. I'm living in a house I own smoking weed I didn't have to buy.

I mean come the fuck on, can't they understand what a fucking lame response that is?

Why are people so utterly ignorant? I can almost guarantee those conversations will make the child uncomfortable and annoyed, and that they'll continue using drugs, either keeping it more on the down-low or begin to flagrantly break more rules to piss you off. Either way that isn't the way to go about talking to your kid about using drugs.

And why bother saying "drugs and alcohol"? Since when is alcohol not a drug?

It?s dangerous and here are the psychological consequences: You could be using alcohol or drugs to avoid your anxiety or a depression, which masks but doesn?t solve the problem.

Now take your prozac/zoloft/ritalin/adderal.


We have family members/ or I remember a friend from high school/ who lost their entire life and everything that was important to them: family, spouses, kids, jobs, self-respect, you name it to substance abuse. You might not have a problem that serious, but there is no way of knowing whether you will or not and it is so much easier not to put it to the test.

Even if we don't it's ok to lie to our child. Oh and if we did of course it had nothing to do with him making his own life choices. Alcohol and all drugs are more powerful that any human that is why your parents still aren't using them, We're somehow superhuman and can thwart their (drugs) evil plans.

I like life better without being foggy. It is so much more interesting, more vibrant, more moving without alcohol or drugs. I want you to have that experience.

When I'm rocking a 3g trip the world is more amazingly vibrant than I can sometimes handle.

It does seem ironic that the way they describe sobriety, as "so much more interesting, more vibrant, more moving without alcohol or drugs" is how I'd describe tripping on mushrooms. If they think the wall seems vibrant and moving sober, wait until they take a good dose of psilocybin.
