Alcohol can be a lot of fun, it sounds like you're drinking with the wrong kind of people... anyone who calls you a pussy for drinking how much you want isn't a suitable drinking partner. I find how an alcohol buzz goes is VERY dependant on who you're around, much like a shroom trip. It can bring you back to when you were a kid, can make running around chasing your friends, and getting chased.. playing tag, swinging on swings, and falling in the sand, and laying in the grass staring at the clouds 10 times more fun. It can make a dull afternoon into an evening to remember :smile:

I don't like drinking in bars. Its not an indoorsy drug at all for me, and if I can't climb a tree when I want, I won't enjoy it nearly as much. Its not an unnatural drug, and in my opinion has its place with shrooms and pot... its all about how you use it. :smile:

Also, it does help a lot of people in some situations. "Social lubricant" is the most fitting thing I've ever heard it called.

alright I'll give you that... most of the time I am very quiet in large groups of people, alcohol can loosen my lips a lot. Don't get me wrong, alcohol has its place, it's just not for me.

I think alcohol is awesome. I'm a fan, for sure. People always spout off "it does reveal any revelatory information" and such. But guess what? The depth of honesty is insightful. It exposes certain character traits and the potential a person can be with a lack of insecurities. It can help a person mold themself into some one more confident, if used wisely. Also, if around warm and friendly people, it creates a bonding experience. I would always choose psychedelics over alcohol; however, there is a huge sense of elitism when comparing the two among trippers.

...not to mention the sex is great. :laugh:

I agree with you ergot axcept for the sex comment. Alcohol just numbs the senses and and takes a lot of the pleasure out of sex. Alcohol is good when you aren't getting any sex though. All in all I like alcohol a lot but it scares me because I might like it a little too much. Also I've done and said some stupid stuff while drunk. And alcohol recently made me fuck up what otherwise would have been a really nice first date with a cool girl (who I'll never see again). Psychedelics will always be my favorite but, despite the negatives, I'll always enjoy a good beer.

I agree booze sucks and so do those who try to question your manhood for not drinking like a friggin idiot. I'm an alcoholic. I stopped drinking for over a year. But have been doing it again lately. I just lost my girlfriend of 3 years,, for being a drunk. I'm moving out at the end of the month... fuck em all!!!

i love getting smashed at huge parties

so much crazyness unfurls

but if im not at a huge party, i dont like drinking at all. I dont like the intoxication from alcohol really, just the chaos that follows :laugh:

I recently swore off hard liquor after taking 5 shots of Vodka and getting nothing but a minor headache.

I hate alcohol. I can honestly say I hate it.

I know I'm pretty biased, but in a sense I dont think I am.. I've been on both ends. I was an alcoholic, and I've had to deal with family drinking way too much, way too often. I could easily say that the reason I became an alcoholic was because of family forcing me to drink.. it was sortve that way. They wanted me to be someone else - more open, happier, easy going.. what people often are said to do for friends "get drunk to fit in" .. I did with my family. Every one drank, and everyone wanted you to drink.. so I did it. .because it was the one of the only times I ever got along with family. Then I had problems in my life become more serious, and it became an outlet for pain.

So I tried really hard to quit drinking. I tried to do it cold turkey.. but it was hard as hell. Every thing I did with family "here drink a little, you know you want to" "come on Crystal, you're the best drinker in the family!" .. I mean.. Thats what my family does.. they get drunk or stoned together.

I hate them for it. They begged me to drink.. and it just makes you realize how little your family actually cares about you.. they tell you how funny and entertaining and outgoing you are when you drink.. and you realize that they dont like who you are when you dont drink. They make it hard. They say that you're just being silly, that you dont need to quit, you dont have a problem, one little glass one hurt..

You never realize how stupid drinkers are until you've been one, and quit. Just seeing how stupid it is.. people like getting drunk.. because it makes them act less inhibited? So we get amusement out of seeing people act like barbaric 8 year olds, or emotional lunatics.

I know alcohol isnt the worst thing ever, but I just dont see the point in it. I can have an awesome time without the influence of any drink or drug.

I had two uncles die from drinking while driving too.. they both ran their motorcycles into trees. Heh. I had a maternal grandfather who was a child molester, and a paternal grandma who was an abusive alcoholic. I'd almost say that she was worse than the child molester. Why? Because she did it all, physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, etc etc etc... she's so fried from all the years of alcohol.. its like talking to an illiterate bafoon now.

Meh.. maybe I'm just a little fed up at the moment ;p point is, I feel the same as you.

I only drink when I'm with my family, and thats just because they are a bunch of alcoholics that dont tolerate pot. 

Once, my dad accused me of drinking like a pussy. 

I challenged him to a little contest:

"Well, Dad," I said, "Why dont you and me go out to an east Texas cattle field sometime and have a mushroom eating contest?  We'll see who wigs out first."

My dad never accepted the challenge, but he never calls me a pussy drinker anymore.

Oh, yeah, and I also hate it when I'm at a party and some ignorant, dumb-shit frat boy comes up with a funnel like:

"OMFG, dude, you HAVE to do a keg stand/beer bong."

I try to explain to them that I am on much better drugs than alcohol, but they never understand. I always have to run away to the pot room or else they will keep pressuring me and pressuring me until they just grab me and shove beer in my mouth (I have gotten in physical fights over this- which is absolute bullshit)

One day I'm gonna make one of those jock-ass fratboys do a "Liquid LSD bong" and see how they like it.

drinkings not my favorite either. the only time i drink is at a party because i don't want to be stoned/trippin around drunk people. all i'm thinking is "what a bunch of obnoxious bastards.." Can't we all just get a bong?

I agree with Madtowntripper (social pressure), Frog (paranonia, but dif for me), Centrum (Puratinism at work- I wish alcohol was calorie free and didn't fuck up my liver- like the SOHO image avatar, too- freaked me out once while tripping, though), Jared (yeah, good folk, good booze/beer, good times), and Ergot (Bonding/insight- I've had some great insights about myself and others, in a sense similar to pot and shrooms, but all three give different angles, and I believe that indepent confirmation is a wonderful thing).

My dif w/ Frog: I'm fairly self-concious, so I deal poorly with the public and people I know when stoned or tripping.  I feel like an asshole, which is about as bad as being one.  I try to keep my pot and shroom experiences personal and most desirably, out in the woods.  FYI/For your perspective on my perspective, I'm an athiest.

I think that moderation in everything, particulary in temper, is key.  The last time I took too many shrooms, I had to keep reminding myself to breathe because I was watching for jaguars in my carpet too intently.  Lesson learned.

I disagree with Today- In my book, generally if you talk to someone, you exert some pressure on them in some way- either subtly or not.  What you seem to object to is overt pressure.  Agressive pressure, if you will.  I realize you mean to talk about chemicals in specific, but I had to point that out.  People seem to have a disconnect between social pressure regarding chemicals and other activities which may or may not be a good idea, depending on the situation (e.g., ice fishing, nude cooking, bar hopping, nude sun bathing, sex at her folk's place, going to work, getting married, etc.).

I disagree with Kosmic Charlie- the odds are _you_ fucked up your date with this chick because _you_ drank too much- it's easy to blame a drug for lack of self-control.  No offense intended, but that's the way I see it.

I disagree with Slipknot 420- you're probably the party asshole (ok, one of many). :lol:

What did I say that caused you to say that you differ from me? Just curious. Went back and read my posts, and I don't understand how you being self-conscious differs from me. Are you saying because my brain simply slows down, and you feel like an asshole? (You're words! Not mine!)
