Students on strike!!

So yesterday was the date set by the association of students in france to go on strike. The way students go on strike is really fun! You basically don't go to class, you make signs and funny rhymes, and then you get together and you start marching and yelling in the streets to let everyone know you're not happy with the government! (the government is trying to reform the schools in a way that we don't agree with at all)

We were only 400 marching because my high school is small, but all over france students were protesting, and the news say that about 200,000 students manifested in the streets.

The march in our town lasted 3 hours, we were VERY loud and very motivated, we went in the main streets of the town, we stopped at the middle school to tell the kids to come and join us, and three 7th graders actually did! We continued uproaring like this all over town until we reached the main place/avenue where the municipal building was and we did a sit down for 30minutes, blocking the roads and everything.

It was a really cool experience, chanting and marching all together as one and occupying the town was awesome. The cops were cool but they probably got a bit pissed off at how they were being "booed" at,but they let us do our shit anyway. I don't have any voice anymore because of how much i yelled, it sounds funny.

Anyway, power in number!  :laugh:

out of curiousity, what kind of bullshit is the gov't trying to make you guys do?

Here in the US, they just cut my student aid by about 20%. Where I'm going to get this money from, I dont know. My parents are poor, and I already work like, 5 hours a day.

I hate our government.

Yeah we had a walkout at our college when the war in iraq started, a bunch of kickass hippies came up to our gates with banners and stuff and we went around to all the other schools and collected up all the people ready to walkout from there, and proceeded to the center of town.

Good times..

oh they're just firing 5000 teachers, reducing education's annual budget, they're making it not necessary for kids to learn history biology PE or art and making bunch of little "pretend fixes" on the school with vague reforms and tell evryone that everything will be ok and that we should just trust them.

They're basically making education an enterprise so that school can create little ignorant robots that the system can easily find use of. The politics are just manipulating the way kids are being educated so that they fit in the system better and so that the economy stays runnin' and expandin'.

basically, the culture is dying, and the politics are finishing it off.

the power of capitalist-liberalism is taking over.

ya lots of hash down here, from Maroc and other north african countries. Some hash is good, some hash is bad, you just gotta be lucky. but definiely lots of it
