Need the help of all psychedelic enthusiasts...

Hey! Hope everyone is having a great day, first of all. I'm enjoying the weather in my region immensely.

OK, to business! I am in the process of writing a (quite extensive) paper on psychedelics(including marijuana) and the benefits we can reap from their use. What I am most in need of is solid scientific studies that present LSD/mushrooms/peyote/ayahuasca etc. in a positive manner. I know that many of you are quite knowledgable entheogenic scholars, and would surely appreciate your help. Do any of you know, especially, of any studies (can there be any like this?) in which psychedelics were found to benefit people spiritually, socially, morally?

For LSD, look at papers and studies by Dr. Grof, and Tim Leary. For Mushrooms, look at Terrence McKenna, Maria Sabina, and Dr. Wasson. For Mescaline, look at the Native American Church and Aldous Huxley. For Ayahuasca, look at Amazonian tribes and other native groups.

Some more here to google:

LSD:
- type "(Oscar) Janiger", he did LSD studies on creativity
- "Kary Mullis" obtained a Nobel prize in biology and claims LSD was one of the key factors that helped him make his discovery
- "Shivitti" is the story of a Jew who survived the Nazi camps and was successfully treated for his PTSD by a Dutch psychiatrist with the help of LSD

Mushrooms:
go to http://www.clusterbusters.com/ and look around

Ayahuasca:
- type "hoasca project", a scientific mental and physical health test that compared long-time ayahuasca users with a control group of non-users and found interesting results
- www.takiwasi.com is a drug rehab center in Peru that uses ayahuasca. Not much on the site itself, but you might google "Takiwasi" and "Jacques Mabit", or email the center

Try to find out things about the incredible anti-addiction effects of iboga and ibogaine. Plenty of stuff on the web.

And finally, THE most important source in this subject area: www.maps.org, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies has everything about psychedelic research, past, present and future. There are plenty of studies going on to find cures for OCD, PTSD, ADHD and many other acronyms.

You will probably find more of a lack of research than actual research itself. The most famous study that comes to my mind is the "Good Friday Project." A group of ministers were administered either psilocybin in pill form or a placebo. You can read about this project briefly in several books and I believe "Etheogens and the Future of Religion" covers it but I can't remember. You may also want to read "Psychoactive Sacramentals."
Otherwise, I would literally contact the following organizations for materials:

Without more "real" research your paper could be a challenge but I definitely encourage you to go full speed ahead and wish you good luck.
